No one asks what debt Romeo’s owed. Probably better we don’t know.

“You guys heading out or can you stick around for the barbecue?” Dante asks.

Romeo taps the table to get my attention. “Not telling you what to do, but if Red Storm’s looking for her, you might be better off sticking around.”

I glance at my father, who gives me a subtle nod. Obviously, he wants me to stick around.

“My son can stay. I need to head back to the clubhouse.”

“You riding back with anyone?” Dante asks.

My father waves off the question. “Yeah, some of my guys will go with me.” He pins me with a look. “I’m telling Thorn to stick around, too.”

“No problem.”

“We got more than enough room,” Romeo assures us before kicking us out of the chapel.

“You trust them, son?” my father asks once we’re in the parking lot surrounded by our club brothers.

I consider the question before answering, because yeah, it occurred to me Romeo might be double-crossing us. Asking us to stick around so Red Storm can swing by and grab Kady. “I think Dante would have to be in on anything shady, and I don’t see him agreeing to give his girl’s sister up to Red Storm.”

“That was my thought,” my father agrees. “Take the women out of it though. Red Storm’s been dicking with their shipments for a couple months. Everyone knows it. Makes sense for them to align with us for now. Bulls ain’t a weak club. Unless Deacon’s got some serious leverage over them, there’s no fuckin’ way Romeo’s gonna bend to them.” He raises an eyebrow, silently asking if I agree. When he gets my nod, he turns to Thorn. “Want you to stick around, too.”

“I really should ride back with you, prez.”

“Yeah, but you’ll do what you’re told,” Dad grumbles, leaving no room for discussion.

Dad motions me closer and drops his voice even lower. “See what you can find out about the deal Romeo’s working with the Lost Kings.”

“I’ll do my best.” Honestly, I think sticking my nose in their action is a dick thing to do when Romeo’s pledged his club’s help in fighting off Red Storm. However, I don’t feel like contradicting my father in front of everyone.

Instead, I give him a quick hug. “Dirty side down, old man.”

“You too. Watch out for Kady.”

“You know it.”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Leftover tension still thrums over my skin as I watch my dad leave. Red Storm’s really gunning for us if they went to the Iron Bulls for help. Not a good sign.

“We got this, B. No one’s letting Red Storm get near Kady,” Thorn reassures me.

“Thanks, Bro.”

One of the Bulls’ club girls circles around us. “Hey. You guys sticking around?” She bats her lashes and tilts her head, inviting us to follow her inside.

“We’re good,” Thorn says, brushing her off.

She pouts but spins on her heel and disappears inside the clubhouse.

“I know whyI’mnot interested in any of their rodeo girls. What’s your issue?” I ask.

He chuckles, then slants a look at me. “Dude, I saw that chick go down on your dad last night. No thanks.”

“You getanyaction?”

“Jesus Christ, B. Why you so worried about where I stick my dick all of a sudden?”
