"A girl?" I say, motioning to his phone.

He grins. "Told her I'll be back in a half hour." He shoves my shoulder. "This better not cost me."

"You'll still get sex. It might not be with whoever you texted but you'll get it from someone. You got us ten points in the game tonight. Girls love that shit."

"Which means I'll score again later," he says with a laugh.

"Exactly, so stop your bitching and take me home."

When we're in his truck, he turns down the country music blaring from the speakers. "Was she any good?"

"Christina? Yeah, it was great."

"Liar," he mutters.

"You know I don't like talking about that shit."

"You could've at least pretended it was good."

"It WAS good. Doesn't mean I have to tell you about it."

"She's hot for a big girl."

"She's not that big. She's just bigger than you're used to."

He rounds a corner. "Those breasts of hers..." He smiles. "Damn. Don't see ones like that very often." He glances at me. "Was she on top? I can just imagine those things bouncing around—"

"Okay, new topic."

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Nothing. Just drive." I rest my head back on the seat and close my eyes.

"I'm surprised the new girl showed up. I would've thought going to one of our parties would be beneath her. I'm sure at her old school the parties were—"

"Wait—what are you talking about?" I ask, my brain registering he's talking about Brook.

"The new girl. She was at the party. Didn't you see her?"

"No." I turn to him. "When did you see her?"

"I don't know. It wasn't long after you told me to get lost. I think you'd already taken off with Christina." He grabs a package of beef jerky from the dash and takes out a piece. "Want some?"

"No, I'm good."

He tosses the package back on the dash. "Is Jake home?"

"Yeah, he's probably playing video games. So, um, was she with someone?" I ask, trying not to sound too interested.

"Who?" he asks, gnawing on his beef jerky.

"Brook."

"Who?" he asks, like he has no clue who I'm talking about.

"Brook. The new girl. Did you see who she went to the party with?"

"I think she was there with JT." He reaches up to the dash to get another piece of beef jerky. "Or maybe Aaron. I'm not sure."
