"Sincesomeonedoesn't know how to be polite," I chastise.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Molly," she shakes my hand and smiles at me.
"Do you want a drink?" I offer, waving my hand at the limited selection of whiskey on the counter.
She shakes her head. "No, I've got to drive. I'm not staying out here tonight."
"What? Why?" I ask, the words rushing out and almost sounding rude.
"I didn't have a camper spot this year, so we weren't going to stay," Scott says.
"Sleep on the couch!" I demand, pointing to the one they're currently sitting on.
Molly laughs, a full-blown, gut-wrenching laugh. "Can you imagine him fitting on this couch? His feet are going to dangle off the end!"
I laugh with her, tears forming in my eyes at how small the bed is in comparison to Scott's height.
"Oh, alright. Laugh it up, you two. At least I don't need a step-stool to reach the top of my cabinets," Scott says, sticking his tongue out at Molly. She leans in and bites it and I'm suddenly feeling like I've made it into an intimate moment that I'd rather not be a part of. Cass is standing at the doorway and nods to the door. I nod in agreement. I follow him out the RV, leaving Scott and Molly to their privacy for the time being.
"I think we missed the wet t-shirt contest," Cass notes, pointing to the band playing on the stage.
"Oh well," I shrug. "We can have our own contest later."
Cass grins at me and nods with enthusiasm. "Oh, hell yes."
We reconvene with the rest of the Hounds, and Aaron and Jensen both look baffled when we walk up.
"Where'd you go?" Aaron asks with a puzzled look on his face.
"We went to get refills," Cass says, holding up his beer.
"I got an ice chest full of beer right here," Aaron points to the ice chest on wheels at his feet.
"But you don't have Lilly's whiskey in there," Cass objects.
"What's she drinking? I'll go find some right now," Aaron says.
"I'll drink whatever whiskey you have, Aaron," I tell him softly.
"Bullshit, what's your preferred whiskey?"
"I like Crown. Apple, preferably. But I will drink the regular one as well."
"Done. I'll be back in five. Jensen! Don't let Prez out of your sight!" Aaron barks, rushing out of the crowd.
Cass chuckles and rolls his eyes. "I already told you about shadowing me," he growls. Jensen looks terrified and confused, like he's torn between following Aaron's instructions or Cass's. I almost feel bad for him.
Digger pops up out of nowhere and taps Cass on the shoulder, motioning him to step away.
"Stay with her," Cass tells Jensen. It's not a request; it’s a direct order. Which makes me wonder what it is Digger's found out. Are the Moccasins here? Is Gater here? My stomach knots at the thought. I whip my head around, looking at all of the faces surrounding me. I don't recognize any of them.
I look at the different cut-offs. Most are blank on the back but one in particular catches my attention. I'd recognize that skull with the gold chain in it's teeth anywhere.Highway Sinners. I take a few steps toward the man in the cut and when I'm certain it's Micah, I all but run over to say hello. I tap his shoulder and he stares down at me. "Hey girl!" he greets, wrapping me in a hug.
"Where's that pretty lady of yours?" I ask, looking around.
"She just ran back to the tent to change into one of the outfits she just bought. She should be walking up any minute though. She's going to be so happy to see you!" Micah says.
Jensen is standing so close to me that I can't step back or I'll be rubbing my ass all over him. He steps around me to introduce himself to Micah.
