We still had the two others to deal with. The first alpha who got the throat punch clambered to his feet. His eyes blazed with anger. He pulled a switch blade from his pocket.

“May I?” I asked.

Carmine tilted his head and waved his hand in a “go ahead” gesture.

I pulled my weapon and fired my gun twice. One shot to his belly and another to his leg, bringing him down.

“That’s not a clean shot.” Carmine shook his head and tsked.

“I didn’t like the way he looked at you.” I had no regrets.

Carmine smirked, and a slight blush crawled across his cheeks. He lifted his gun and fired, hitting the alpha between the eyes.

The last man scrambled to his feet and took off. We let him run.

“As much as I would love to let the asshole suffer and bleed out, I don’t really want to spend the next twenty minutes here, making sure he dies.”

I chuckled to myself and then stepped closer to the most perfect man in the world. My deepest desires in omega form, right in front of me. He still held his gun. He was a dangerous man who could probably take me out without me even suspecting a thing. I knew he wouldn't. I trusted he wouldn't. No matter what. Even if he got a direct order from his family to get rid of me.

I knew it, because it was the same for me. He was my most important thing. "I love you."

He snorted a laugh and looked at me oddly. "Really? And this is how you wanted to tell me? When I'm standing here with brain matter splattered on my shirt?"

He didn't actually have any blood on him. Maybe a little on his knuckles from where he punched the guy, but the shot had been clean. "Yeah. I just thought you should know. I'm in awe of you. I love you."

His cheeks flushed a deep red, and he looked away.

I hooked a finger under his chin and forced him to look at me. "Are you embarrassed?"

The glare he shot me was more deadly than his aim. "No! I just... I... No one's ever told me that before. Being an omega...in this world, with the families we have... No one wants an omega that could kill them a dozen different ways. They want meek and mild, smart, but not deadly."

"I want you. Exactly as you are. Deadly knife throwing, deadly aim, deadly sexy."

"Deadly sexy?"

"Yeah, cause when you aren't in my arms, I feel like I might die, and when you are in my arms, you steal my breath. I'd gladly suffocate if it meant looking at you while I left this earth."

Carmine's eyes widened. "Fuck, Dom. I had no idea poetry was one of your skills."

"I love you," I said again.

Carmine stepped in my embrace and put his arms around my neck. His hips were flush with mine, and I could feel the heat of his arousal. "I love you, too."

I sensed his reluctance, even though he tried to hide it.

There was so much for us to figure out. So much for our families to have to accept for us to be together.

"Let me take you home, get this brain matter off you, and pamper you like you deserve. Then I want you to get on your knees and suck my cock."

He snorted. "Shouldn't you suck mine? I did all the work here."

"Yeah, but don’t think I don't know how much you enjoy it. It will be a treat for you."

There went that blush again. He looked away but kept his arms around my neck. "It’s unnerving how much you see me."

"You can trust me with your heart, Carmine. Above all else, that I know to be the most true. I would never ever do anything to hurt you."

"I know.” His voice was soft and quiet. “And that might be the scariest thing ever."
