Cooper follows my grandparents into the house. Cooper and my grandpa are already chatting about cars.
Grandma goes back to helping Mom with whatever they were baking when we got here.
I stand back and observe, a small smile forming. Watching Cooper get along so well with all the important people in my life has me falling in love with him even more. I’m not sure why I was so worried about having him here.

I’m reminded why I was so worried about having him here. I’m fighting for my life, but thankfully no one seems to notice.
Watching Cooper fit in so easily with my family is a turn on I never expected. “You okay?” Cooper asks as we say goodnight to everyone and head toward the spare room Cooper is sleeping in. Not sure why they won’t let us sleep in the same bed, it’s not like we’re having sex. Yet. And I wouldn’t do it in my grandparent’s place anyway.
“I’m fine,” I tell him. “Just thinking.”
“About what?” he asks as we step into his room.
“About you.” I bite my lower lip.
“Ohhh, about me. Wanna share some details?” He wiggles his brows.
“Maybe having you here wasn’t a good idea,” I mutter, leaning against the door frame.
His face drops. “What?”
“Oh fuck.” My eyes widen, realizing what that must have sounded like. “No, no, not like that. I’m happy you’re here, over the moon, really. My family loves you. It’s just that I want to touch you, kiss you, dootherthings,” I mumble the last part. “But I can’t and it sucks—”
“One night, Blake. Only one night. We’re going to have a great day tomorrow. Just think of all the food.” He groans.
“Really? I’m telling you I want your hands all over me, doing naughty things to me and it’s the food that makes you moan?” I raise a brow.
“What?!” He chuckles. “I’m a sucker for a good home cooked supper. A turkey dinner is my favorite kind.”
He’s not wrong. And my grandma makes the best holiday meals.
“I have an idea.” A grin takes over his face and this one has me worried.
“Do I wanna know?”
“Just wait up okay? Don’t go to sleep. I’ll be back in an hour. Gotta make sure everyone is sleeping, so they don’t hear us sneaking out.”
“We’re sneaking out?” My brows furrow. “To where?”
“You’ll see.”
Cooper kisses me goodbye and I head back to the room I’m staying in. I sit there and wonder what this wild man has planned. The last time I went somewhere with him, without any knowledge of what we were doing, we ended up egging Mickey and his friends.
Huh. Maybe I should trust him. The last time turned out to be a lot of fun..
After the longest hour, there’s a light knock at my door. Rushing to it, I pull it open and find Cooper standing there, grinning. “Let’s go before anyone spots us.”
“Where are we going?” I whisper-hiss, following after him.
“You’re grandparents don’t have any kinds of alarms do they?”
“Not that I know of, no. Why?”
He says nothing, and instead opens the front door. “Cooper, everything is closed this time of night. Why are we leaving the house?”
“We’re not going far,” Cooper promises.
