I feel like an asshole now. “You’re the best little sister, you know that?” I give her a watery smile.

“Duh.” She rolls her eyes, laughing. “Tell me something I don’t know.”

Chuckling, I reach up and mess with her hair.

“You did not just touch my hair!” She gapes at me. “Now I have to fix it!”

She takes off running from my room, like her ass is on fire. Dramatic much?

My phone dings with a notification. Grabbing my phone off the bedside table, I see Cooper texted me.

Cooper: Do you know how amazing it feels not to have to be up at the ass crack of dawn? I slept in on a school day, Blake. This is big!

Chuckling, I text him back.

Me: Guess it’s a good thing the other team pulled that prank. Day off.

Cooper: Yes and no. Yes, because yay sleep. And no, because even though they’re going to clean up all the shit, it’s still gonna fucking stink. Like, what if they miss some and I’m the unlucky one to be tackled into it? I’d die, Blake, I’d literally die.

This man. I love how over the top he can be sometimes.

One of our rival schools pulled a prank on the football team and somehow let ten cows loose on the field on Sunday. They were there for a whole night, shitting up a storm and eating the grass before someone found them.

Now they have to redo the grass and clean up the mess.

Me: You’re going to be fine, drama queen. Now, where are you?

Cooper: Oh, I thought I told you, I’m outside waiting for you. Now get your sexy ass out here, I want to treat my boyfriend to brunch before class.

“What the hell?” My eyes widen. I grab my bag and hightail it out the door. Why the hell didn’t he lead with that?

“Where’s the fire?” Mom asks as I pound down the stairs.

“No fire, Cooper is just waiting outside for me,” I rush out as I pass her, circling around to quickly give her a kiss on the cheek. “Love you. Have a good day at work.”

“Thank you, honey.” She laughs. “I love you, too! Have a good day at school. Tell Cooper I said hi!”

Throwing the door open, I slam it shut behind me and run for his car.

“Is there a dog after you or something?” Cooper chuckles as I get into the passenger side.

“What?” My brows furrow, and I’m panting a bit as my heart races. “No?”

“Then why were you running like a mailman getting chased by a dog?”

I realize how pathetic I look. “I didn’t wanna keep you waiting.”

“You’re fucking adorable, you know that, right?” He gives me one of those blinding smiles that never fails to make my heart flutter.

“Whatever. Just go,” I grumble, putting my seat belt on, then hugging my bag to my chest.

“Nope,” he says.

“Why not?” I shoot him a glaring look that only makes him smile wider.

“Not until I get this.” He grips my chin, holding me still as he leans over and presses a kiss to my lips.

A small whimper slips free as I lean into him. Every time he kisses me, I feel like it’s a shot of pure oxygen to the lungs. I’ve never done drugs before, but I have a feeling being with Cooper, in any kind of way, is like experiencing the best high of your life.
