“Well, it fits you perfectly,” Alex replied, grinning.
“Thanks…I think so too. Uhm, sorry for…you know before.”
“Hey, don’t be, I love my new code name…Delicious Surprise.”
Rolling his eyes, Glenn muttered, “Just fucking great, Smokey.”
“Fuck off, asshole…stop your bitchin’…you have two fuckin’ mates and I…who should have two…don’t even have one.”
“He’s right, tiger mate,” Alex piped up. “And don’t forget, Smokey is as horny as fuck.”
“See,” Smokey said, pointing at Alex, “he gets it.”
“Enough,” Ghost said to Smokey. “Go sit down in the living room, I want to hear how come Snow White ended up with Sawyer and Alex.”
Glenn escorted his mates into the room, claiming the sofa for the three of them as he waited for his friends to sit down opposite him.
Seeing Glenn about to begin, Ghost held up his finger to stop him, then asked, “Why is The Collector after Alex?”
Glancing at his mates, Glenn raised his eyebrows, seeking their permission to tell his friends. After getting two affirmative nods, he said, “He’s a dual shifter…Alex can shift into a dragon or a fox.”
Chapter 41
“No fucking way!” Ghost exclaimed, gob smacked at Glenn’s revelation about Alex. “I’ve never heard of anything like that.”
“Maybe because he’s the only one?” Glenn said, rolling his eyes at his friend’s comment.
“In the world?” asked Smokey.
“Yeah, as far as I can tell,” Glenn replied.
“How come the Council doesn’t know about Alex?” asked Ghost.
“His father went to great lengths to hide him from the High Council,” Glenn said.
“How did The Collector find out about him?” asked Smokey.
“I’m still working on that.”
“Oh shit, this crap just got a lot more complicated,” Smokey snarled. “Someone’s out there gatherin’ up this information and sellin’ it to The Collector. I bet that’s what happened to Kevin.”
“And it ain’t Panther,” growled Ghost.
“No, he’s just a hired gun,” Glenn concurred. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we find another one who’s after Kevin.”
“We have to find his parents,” Ghost said.
“Agreed…once you and Smokey rest up, we can proceed with interrogating Panther. Right now, he’s the only one we know of who has direct contact with The Collector,” Glenn said.
“Sounds good…I’ll give everything we found in Panther’s house to Riley before I hit the sack,” Ghost said.
“Whoa…” Smokey called out. “You kinda left us hangin’ about your mate…like who squealed about him bein’ a dual shifter. Care to go over that part again?”
“Snow White thinks it’s either the lawyer who set up my trust or the person who was blackmailing my father,” Alex said. “Everyone else who knew about me is dead…right, Snow White? Oh this is so cool being a secret agent. By the way, Sawyer needs a code name so don’t forget that.”
“Alex…” Glenn said.
“Hey tiger mate,” Alex interrupted, “Delicious Surprise is my code name…Smokey gave it to me.”
