“Yeah, but I’m not sure how to fit that and everything else that needs to be done before we leave for France,” replied Glenn. “That’s why I haven’t called her yet. I thought if we could prioritize what absolutely must be done, it would help me figure out if a short trip to see her is possible.”
“Your mom knows me…well at least she knows who I am…but that should help,” Sawyer said.
“It does, but she won’t be happy until she meets Alex too.”
“Then I think the first thing on the list should be a visit to your mom,” Alex said, grinning. “Oh boy, I have a mother-in-law! Never thought that would happen.”
“Oh my gods,” groaned Sawyer. “I have one, too. At least she’s nice.”
“Glad to hear that,” Alex said giggling. “Otherwise, I would have to pour on my charm so our tiger mate won’t have to defend us to his mother.”
“And I can ask Aunt Hope to help us…she’s our mother-in-law’s best friend,” Sawyer added. “I told you Willow is staying with the pack, didn’t I?”
“Wow…so you knew our mother-in-law before you knew she was going to be our mother-in-law…talk about fate,” Alex said excitedly.
“Yup…hey, maybe if we’re lucky, she’ll tell us about our tiger mate when he was a little bitty cub.”
“Oh, I bet she has pictures!” Alex exclaimed, grinning.
“Knock it off, you two. My mother is gonna love both of you without your charm or your Aunt Hope’s help,” Glenn muttered. “And no stories or photos. In fact, maybe that should go to the bottom of the list…we can see her after France.”
“Nope, sorry, but I don’t want to get on the wrong side of your mother,” Alex said, shaking his head. “She met Sawyer already so it would be odd if I went to France without at least popping in for a ‘hello’.”
“Alex’s right, Glenn…a visit to officially meet your mother remains at the top of the list,” Sawyer said. “Hey, cheer up…you aren’t the only one in that position. My brothers and cousins will want to meet you and Alex so getting it all done at once is good. Then we can leave for France without anything hanging over our heads.”
Glenn had to admit they were right. As soon as his mother found out about his mates, she’d want to meet them, even if it meant coming to LA to do so. “I agree. What if we drive up…that would solve another problem…what to do with the motorhome and trailer.”
“That’s a great idea!” exclaimed Alex.
“Yeah, we can park them there while we’re in France,” Sawyer said.
“Do you have to check with anyone about that?” asked Glenn.
“The motorhome…no…but about Alex’s SUV and trailer, yeah, I should probably ask Jackson if it’s okay.”
“Good, because he wanted you to call him anyway, so you can kill two birds with one stone,” Glenn said.
“Wait, is there anything else Sawyer should ask Jackson?” asked Alex.
“I don’t know, but as long as we’re going to be there I think it’s a good idea for Mac to check you over…to make sure the cub is all right,” Sawyer said.
“Good point,” Glenn agreed.
“Are you going to tell your mother?” asked Alex.
“About the cub?” Glenn frowned. “I don’t know…I wasn’t planning on it but that was before we decided to see her first.”
Shrugging, Sawyer said, “Why don’t we back-burner that for now since it doesn’t require an immediate decision.”
Nodding in agreement, Glenn inwardly gave a sigh of relief. It’s not that he didn’t want his mother to know, but in all honesty, he was still worrying about what might happen when he became a father. His mother would instantly sense his hesitation about his mate’s pregnancy, and he was sure she’d assume the cub was unwanted. She’d be wrong, of course. The trouble lay in what happened to him as a young cub more than anything else. His father’s enemies made sure Glenn grew up fatherless and he didn’t want that to happen to his son. During histime at the agency, he ended up with more enemies than his father ever had; it would be foolish not to think that some of them weren’t plotting revenge. And if any of those degenerates found out he had a child, well, that would make it easy to get to Glenn, since he’d do anything to protect his cub, as his father did for him. Snapping out of his thoughts he said, “Okay, setting that aside, I have to meet with my team once they return before we head up north.”
“Was the guy they tied up connected to The Collector?” asked Alex.
“Yeah…hopefully Riley will be able to find out who and where the asshole is when he goes through the stuff they collected,” Glenn said.
“Will he do that before we leave for France?” asked Sawyer.
“No…I’d be surprised if he’s finished before we return. It takes time to sort through all the information, not to mention to follow up on any leads that he finds.”
