“I don’t know,” Fionn said, “I’ve never had any red.”

Remy’s eyes widened at that pronouncement. “Well, then, today will be a special day, since we’ll end in the wine tasting room where you can sample a number of red wines.”

“Perfecto!” exclaimed Fionn, bouncing up and down in excitement. “How much wine do you think I should drink to get drunk? Ki told me all about how it makes you do silly things.”

“Pet, I don’t think you can get drunk, but if you drink enough, you’ll probably get a good buzz,” Hunter said.

Chuckling, Remy twined his fingers with Carson’s. “I better have Pierre bring lots of bottles, then.”

“Eddie, please stop here,” Oracle said to her driver after they’d left the cottage, driving along the same dirt road they’d come in on. Getting out of the car she walked over to the woman standing under a tall, leafy tree. “Mystia,” she said, greeting her friend, “Carson and Remy are expecting you this evening.”

“I’ll help them with whatever they need,” said the witch. “They are facing a daunting task.”

“Yes,” Oracle agreed. “The Fates believe they are the ones who will rid the mystic world of the evil that has infested it and, after seeing them together, I agree. By the way, I have already suggested certain actions Remy may want to take. I have also sent official notice to the Witches’ Governing Council that the Keeper of All Magic has claimed his Fated Mate.”

“Hmm, they should withdraw the council guards, then,” Mystia mused.

“Yes, they should,” Oracle said, dryly.

“I think I’ll stay a little longer,” said Mystia. “Just in case.”

“What about the trace of black magic you found? Did you tell Maximus?” asked Oracle.

“Yes…and that’s another reason for me to remain here,” Mystia said. “I want to ask Remy if he knows anything about it.”

“Good idea. I am very impressed by him…and his brothers, they are adorable but also a handful. Reminds me of Steel and Slate when they were that age. Carson loves them already.”

“I met them,” chuckled Mystia. “Remy gets top marks in my book for stepping up and becoming their guardian. He was going to reject Carson because he felt it would upset his brothers so soon after their parents’ deaths.”

“Just like our Jackson,” Oracle said, with a satisfied smile.

“Yes, he’s exactly what the mystic realm needs,” agreed Mystia.

“I better go. Maximus is always anxious until I return, but do not tell him I told you that,” Oracle said. Giving her friend a hug, she walked back to the car. It was time to go home and spend some time with her husband and grandpups.

Chapter 33

Pulling into a dusty, rutted parking lot in front of a run-down bar, Glenn killed the engine and glanced around, finding only an old, rusty, pick-up truck parked nearby. Climbing out, he stretched, smirking at the sounds of his bones popping and cracking. Since leaving Riley, he’d driven straight through, stopping only for gas and food. If luck was with him, the man waiting inside would agree to be the second member of his team. Opening the metal-clad door, Glenn paused, letting his eyes become accustomed to the dark interior.

“Either come in or get out,” a whiskey voice rasped.

Grinning, Glenn moved towards the figure sitting at the end of the bar, letting the door slam behind him. “Hello to you, too.”

“Traveling alone? What happened? Did the Hare finally kick your sorry ass out the door?”

“Nope…vacay,” Glenn chuckled, claiming the stool next to his friend.

“And you want to spend it with me. How touching.”

“Still hard up, Smokey?”

“Well, my dick is hard and up, so, yep, you nailed it,” Smokey snorted. “Good to see you, old man.”

“Same here,” Glenn replied, grabbing the cold bottle of beer waiting for him.

“What’s up? Who do I have to kill this time?”
