“Did I say that?” Maximus murmured, beginning to intersperse his words with light kisses on his mate’s neck. “So, I take it…you’re not… leaving me?”
“No, I am not leaving you right this second,” Oracle said, smiling, “but I thought youwouldlike to know Carson has found his Fated Mate.”
“What?” Maximus stared at Oracle. “How can that be? He just arrived in France. Who is it?”
“Remy Marchant,” Oracle replied. “I have to leave this morning.”
The seriousness of his mate’s voice alerted Maximus to the urgency of her trip.
“I’ll arrange everything. Have you finished packing?”
“Yes, I will be on my way after I visit the nursery to kiss the pups good-bye.”
“I’ll join you there shortly,” Maximus replied, quickly sending a message to Robert. “Does Jackson know?”
“I plan to see him next.”
“Baby, is everything okay? Is Carson or Remy in danger? Do you want some enforcers to accompany you?” asked Maximus.
“All I can say is that it is important I get there quickly.” And with that, Oracle glided from the room.
After receiving an answer from Robert as to when the helicopter would arrive, Maximus messaged Steel to let him know what was happening. It’d been a long time since Oracle had been so perturbed. A shot of fear unsettled his gut at her tone of urgency. Hearing his son enter, Maximus whispered a quick prayer to the gods asking them to keep Carson and Remy safe.

Hunter wasn’t surprised at the response he got from his uncle after telling him the purpose of his call. Only after five minutes of protesting of his innocence, interspersed with Hunter’s threats to take over the Rolling Hills Pack, did his uncle finally admit he planned to meet with Josiah. Snorting in disgust at his uncle’s claim it was just for the purpose of exploring an alliance with Josiah’s pack, Hunter finally issued a verbal challenge. If his uncle called him back later that day to confirm he’d cancelled the meeting, then Hunter would take no action. If not, he’d make it official, recording the challenge with the High Council. After that, there’d be no turning back. Sighing, he punched in Jackson’s number, hoping his uncle would acquiesce. The last thing in the world he wanted was to become Alpha of Rolling Hills. Snorting at that realization, he shook his head, remembering all the years he wasted longing for that title.Be careful what you wish for…
“Hunter?”
“Hey, Jackie,” Hunter said. “Just letting you know I’ve issued a verbal challenge to my uncle. He has until six his time to let me know he’s cancelled the meeting. If he does, I want to make sure he’s not bullshitting me. CanZane hack into his and Josiah’s emails to make sure it’s for real?”
“Yup,” Jackson replied, “I’ll call you as soon as he finds proof it’s been done.”
“Thanks…oh, I think Carson’s found his Fated Mate. Has he called you?”
“No, not yet, but Oracle just walked into my study so I’m guessing she’ll be heading to France shortly,” Jackson said.
“Uhm, okay. Do you want me to do anything before she arrives?” asked Hunter.
“If you see Carson, let him know she’s on the way, will ya?” Jackson asked.
“Sure,” Hunter chuckled, “but I don’t think he’ll even be coming up for air until tomorrow.”
“You’re probably right,” Jackson laughed. “How’s Fionn?”
“Good… taking a nap right now. Hey, can you ask Steel if he knows of an appraiser?” asked Hunter. “There’s expensive shit in this house up the gazoo that Fionn might want to sell.”
“No problem,” Jackson said, “By the way, if you see Carson, tell him congratulations from me.”
“Will do. Gotta go,” Hunter said. ending the call quickly as he stared at his naked mate, leaning against the bedroom door frame, slowly tugging on his cock.
“Need some help?”
“Thought you’d never ask, mate,” smirked Fionn, turning around and wiggling his ass on the way to the bed.
Grinning, Hunter shucked pieces of clothing as he followed Fionn, relishing his mate’s playfulness that was making his cock go crazy.
