Princess smiled and stood up slowly. She took a step back and pulled her panties down slowly as I lay back, propped on my elbows. When she finished, she took a step back toward me and climbed on top. I moaned at the feeling. Her pussy was wet and tight, and the whimper she let out let me know she felt it too.

“Damn, you feel so good, baby.” I exhaled.

“I love this dick!” she exclaimed.

“I love this pussy. I love you too.”

“I love you.”

The words didn’t feel as if they were just something we said because the mood was hot. It felt as if the truth had finally caught up to us. Every thrust of my hips under her, and every squeal she let out, felt so much better than the last time, not because it was wilder, but because it was deeper.

It was the way she looked at me between the curls that hung over her face and the way her hands grabbed at my shoulders and let me know to stay right there. The way I took my time and talked her through her nut as if pleasing her was the only thing that mattered.

When she finally came undone, she laid her head on my chest, shaking and breathless. I held her like the moment was sacred until I heard tiny snores coming from her.

I kissed the top of her head and felt my breath go back to normal. It was so quiet. I swore I could hear the thud of my heart in my chest.

The moment felt so peaceful. I didn’t even remember closing my eyes. I just remembered lying there, staring at the ceiling, thinking about how the truth wouldn’t go away just because of what had just happened. The next thing I remembered was waking up to silence. I blinked, confused, and sat up in bed. The blanket was still on me, but Princess was gone. The house was still and quiet.

I reached over to check my phone, but it was missing from the nightstand. I tossed the blanket off and searched for it under the covers until I heard it flop on the floor. When I tapped the screen, I saw a text from Princess. I unlocked the screen and read the message.

Princess:We didn’t wanna wake you. We’re headed to the airport now. Probably already be there by the time you see this. Call me when you wake up. I love you.

My chest tightened.

I went back to the messages and tapped on another text from Yana.

Yana:Bye dad don’t be too sad without me. I’ll be back soon.

I stared at the screen. I wanted to take them to the airport myself, but through all the wine the night before, I saw I forgot to cancel the driver. I sighed, wrapped my legs around the side of the bed, and rested my head in my hands.

As I got up and walked through the house, my first stop was Yana’s room. I opened the door, and the bed was made perfectly, and her bags were gone. I exhaled and shut the door.

I walked back to the kitchen and noticed it was clean. The wineglasses and empty bowls of popcorn from the night before were in the dishwasher, clean and ready to be put back into the cabinets. I didn’t know if I realized it before, but my place was uncomfortably quiet without them being there. It made me want to get out of there.

I heard my phone ding from the bedroom. With a grunt, I walked back to the room and tapped my phone. It was another message from Amora.

I was done pretending that if I ignored it, if I just worked through my problems, then they would just go away. I needed to get this cleared up and off my conscience before it destroyed me and everything I was working to build with Princess and my daughter. I decided at that moment to take charge and face this.

Amora:Dude, foreal. You ready to talk?

I stared at the message for a moment before I replied.

Me:Yeah. I’m on my way over there.

Before I made it to the 405, I dialed Kam’s phone. He answered on the second ring.

“Talk to me.”

“I’m going to Amora’s,” I said.

Kam didn’t skip a beat. “You . . .what!”

“I don’t need?—”

“Yes, you do,” he cut in, voice sharp. “Send me the address. I’m meeting you there.”
