“What does everyone else call you?”Enzo asked, and I could hear the hint of possession in his tone.

He was totally jealous of this guy.

“Everyone calls me Capshaw,” he said with a shrug.“My wife is the only one who calls me Jack, which meansI’mnot someoneyouhave to worry about.”

Enzo nodded as if that was an acceptable answer as we walked off and headed to where Asher was sitting, waiting for us.I grinned like a fool as we approached, the happiness of having a new job so overwhelming that there was nothing that could bring me down.

Iloved how happy Violetwas to have gotten a job, but I couldn’t say I hadn’t been a bit jealous and nervous about her working for the guy who helped us.He seemed as charming as he was good-looking, and that was a combination I was well aware of, because I constantly used it to my advantage with women.Regardless of his being married, it didn’t make me worry any less about him flirting with her.

After lunch, she spent some time chatting with him before we left. He’d given her a folder with the employee handbook and other paperwork she’d need to fill out and take with her in the morning.I already knew Asher and I would take her to and from work so we could make sure she got there safely.Beaumont Creek wasn’t a bad place to live, but even small towns had their own issues to worry about, and I wasn’t going to sit back and let Violet face any unnecessary challenges if I could help it.

Once we got home, she went to her room to pick out what she would wear for her first day of work tomorrow.Asher and I finished what we had been working on this morning, uploaded new content, and interacted with subscribers for an hour or so before calling it a day.It seemed like the afternoon had flown by, and the next thing I knew, it was time for dinner.

I had been in the mood to grill for a few weeks, but we hadn’t been to the store to pick up meat until today.I’d grabbed plenty to last us for several weeks, as well as stocked up on healthy foods that we usually consumed during the week.It was nice having Violet with us because we were able to convince her to pick some things she wanted, which made it feel even more real that she was living with us.

The summer sun was hot as I stood by the grill, flipping the steaks, when I heard Violet’s voice in the kitchen. The patio door was open, with the screen door closed to keep bugs out, so I could hear what she and Asher were talking about. She had offered to make dinner tonight, but settled on preparing a salad when I told her I was going to grill.

I was lost in thought, taking a drink from my bottle of beer, when I heard her asking Asher if he liked cucumbers. He replied that they were okay, but he was more of an eggplant kind of guy.I grinned as I looked into the kitchen and found her with her head down, shaking it, a smile spreading across her face.I pulled the steaks from the grill, put them on a plate, then turned off the grill and headed inside.

“Perfect timing,” Asher said as he grabbed my empty beer bottle and tossed it for me before grabbing a new one from the fridge.“The baked potatoes are ready, and Violet just finished the salad.”

“Sounds great,” I replied as I set the meat down on the table and then opened the beer.“Do you want one?”

Asher waited for Violet’s answer as he lingered by the fridge, ready to get her one if she said yes.

“No, thank you.I want to make sure I have a great first day tomorrow, and beer usually gives me a wicked headache.”

“If you want something besides water, just let me know,” Asher said as they joined me at the table.

We ate quietly for a few minutes before my phone vibrated on the table.I picked it up and read the Fan Cam notification that a user had requested a private video from me.I rubbed my lips together as I considered what they were asking and how much they were willing to pay for it.

“Everything okay?”Asher asked, nodding to my phone in my hand.
