The next morning, I was in the kitchen making breakfast when Enzo walked in.He gave me a nod and then opened the fridge to pull out a bottle of water.
“So, there was a little mishap last night,” I said quickly, wanting to get this conversation out of the way before Violet came out.I’d heard the shower on, so I knew she was already awake, which was why I was starting breakfast.
“What happened?”
“I was recording in the bathroom and Violet walked in.”
I flipped the bacon in the skillet and looked over at Enzo, trying to read his expression. His jaw was tight, but he didn’t look pissed off, which was a good sign.
“What did she say?”
“Well, she started out apologizing and then stuck around to watch me finish.”
His eyebrows rose as he put the cap on the bottle and set it on the island. This was indeed good information because it meant that we’d already crossed that boundary and she hadn’t tried to run away.I knew she’d seen the camera and the whole setup last night, yet she hadn’t questioned it.
“Did you tell her why you were doing that?”
“Nope.”
He nodded his head and thought about it for a minute, not having time to continue the conversation as we heard the bathroom door open.
“We’ll talk about it later,” he said, taking his bottle to the kitchen table and sitting down.
A few minutes later, Violet came in wearing short denim shorts and a tank top, her wet hair piled tightly on her head.I knew that it was summer and hotter than fuck, but she looked too fucking delicious to be wearing something like that. The urge to rush over and strip those clothes off of her had me so distracted that I started to burn the bacon.
I turned around and let out a frustrated breath as I focused on the food instead of her.
“Good morning,” she said, the energy in the room already different.
“Good morning,” Enzo replied.I didn’t have to look behind me to know that he was studying her because I could feel the heat of his gaze as it traveled over her body.Apparently, I wasn’t the only one she was getting to this morning.
“Morning,” I tossed over my shoulder, not sure if she was ready to look me in the eye after what happened last night.“Breakfast will be ready in a few.”
“Oh, thanks, but you didn’t need to cook for me.I don’t want you going through all of this extra trouble for me,” she replied quickly.
“Believe it or not, we actually eat three meals a day,” I teased, looking over long enough to wink at her before returning my attention to removing the bacon from the pan and setting it on a paper towel.
“Yes, but you can cook for yourselves and not have to worry about me,” she replied, but I had already seen the blush creep up her face from the simple wink I’d given her.Fuck.I loved how easily her body responded to me.
“It’s no extra work.I would cook the same amount regardless of whether you were here.Enzo and I like to eat.”
I turned the stove off and turned around to find her staring at me, her cheeks red as color flushed across her neck and down to her chest. The faint blush from a few seconds ago was now a full-body one that had me grinning like a fool.
“Weloveto eat,” Enzo corrected, stretching his legs in front of him as he rested his hands on his stomach and stared at her.I knew he was waiting to see how she’d respond to his words as much as I was.
She looked between us and then pressed her lips together as if she were fighting to say what she really wanted to say.
“Say it,” I urged, lifting an eyebrow and smiling as I set the plate of food on the table where Enzo was sitting.I shoved my hands into my sweat pockets to keep from fidgeting as we watched her.
“No, it was nothing,” she rushed out, shaking her head.“I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with me this morning.”
I did.She was fucking turned on and sexually frustrated after last night.I was more than ready and willing to help her with it if she would just say the word.
“It didn’t look like nothing,” Enzo commented, keeping his focus directly on her.“It looked like you had something you wanted to say.”
She shrugged and pushed out a ragged breath.
“I am just making something out of nothing,” she insisted, continuing to stare at the floor instead of looking at us.“Maybe I should go back to bed and get more sleep.”
