I smiled and thanked her for her help, then grabbed my duffel bag and led the way to the room, with Enzo following.

“I haven’t been able to get any information,” he said, the frustration clear in his voice as we got into the elevator.

“They’re probably just busy.I’m sure everything is fine.”

He had been trying to get in touch with someone at the hospital to get an update on Violet’s dad. While we could have called or texted her for one, we didn’t want to stress her out right now.Our goal was to be there and help her, even if it meant we had to hide the fact that we were in Haven Brook.

I swiped the key card and pushed the door open once the light turned green. The room was large, with lots of light filtering through the sheer curtains, making it feel inviting.I set my duffel bag down on the luggage rack in the closet and looked around.

There was plenty of room for the three of us to spread out without being on top of each other, though the bed would make things a little cramped. But I knew that none of us would mind that as long as we got to be together.

Enzo was staring at his phone when I felt mine vibrate in my pocket.I pulled it out and grinned when I saw a text message to both of us from Violet. My stomach immediately sank when I read it.

Violet: I need help.

Violet: Please reach out to Capshaw to see if he can advance me my next paycheck.Tell him I’ll work whatever hours I need to make it up, but I really need that advance if possible.

“What the fuck?”Enzo asked, frowning at his phone, then looking up at me.

“Something isn’t right,” I said, my fingers quickly flying over my phone to respond.

Me: What’s wrong?

Enzo: We will give you the money, Violet. How much do you need?

Violet: $10,000

Violet: I know that my paycheck isn’t that much, but if he can advance the next one for me, I can use what I have in my savings to try to make it work.

Me: Call me, please.Let’s talk about this.

Violet: There’s nothing I can talk about right now.

Violet: Can you please just ask Capshaw for me?

Me: Consider it done.

Enzo looked at me and shook his head, his bewilderment as strong as mine.

“We need to get to the hospital and see what the fuck is going on,” I growled, hating the thought that Violet was in trouble.
