He broke on a loud groan, his musclestensing as he spurted his seed into her mouth. She drank of himgreedily, lapping him up, still sucking upon his shaft. By the timeshe was finished, Lachlan could do naught but collapse. Hisbreathing ragged, he pulled Veronica up onto his chest and restedher there.

“I hope you liked that,” she said in a huskyvoice.

“Liked it? I loved it, wife.”

His answer pleased her. “I’m glad,” shewhispered against his chest.

When his breathing returned to normal,Lachlan flipped her onto her back. He settled himself betwixt herthighs, and, on his knees, spread them wide open with his hands. Hestared at her beautiful pussy for a pause afore burying his face init. Veronica gasped. He latched onto her clit with a growl andsucked it.

“Oh my God,” she breathed out.

He sucked on her wee nub as she ground herhips against him, shoving her pussy into his face. Her hands foundhis braids. She pulled his head even closer against her hot fleshas though she wished for him to engulf her. Lachlan sucked on herclit harder and dinna let go. She bucked up against him, moaningout her pleasure, her breathing heavy and nipples erect. He reachedup and ran his hands o’er them without releasing her clit.

“I’m coming,” Veronica gasped, her bodywrithing. “Oh my God!”

He sucked and sucked, giving his wife nosurcease. He rubbed his callused palms o’er her sensitive nipplesagain and again. She burst on a groan.

“Lachlan!”

He kept rubbing her nipples, but releasedher clit when she said ‘twas too sensitive to keep sucking upon it.Lachlan dinna mind. He raised his head from her pussy and buriedhis face betwixt her breasts. He palmed them both, leisurelysucking on one stiff nipple afore turning to the other. Her pantingtold him without words she loved it. It dinna take long for him togrow hard again. As he plunged inside her, he was thankful for hisgood fortune.

He loved that she was his in everra way now.His wife belonged to him for good.

Chapter Twenty-One

Victor and Catriona married late the nextmorning in a beautiful ceremony that brought unshed tears toVeronica’s eyes. The service had been performed in Latin so she’dunderstood almost none of it, but merely seeing the love betweenVictor and Catriona touched her regardless. She smiled at Lachlanthen looked back to her brother and sister-in-law twice over. Outof her peripheral vision, she could see Moira dabbing at her eyesfrom the seat next to hers. Without looking away from the happycouple who’d just been declared husband and wife by Father Archer, she put her hand atop her mother-in-law’s and gently squeezedit.

“I feel guilty,” Lachlan muttered from herother side.

“Why?” she whispered back.

“Because I dinna give you a properwedding.”

Ahh. She would have teased him, but hesounded too sensitive about the subject at the moment. “Honestly,I’m fine with how things worked out.” It was the truth. She knewhow feisty she was, especially when she’d first arrived. “Lordknows I would have fought you kicking and screaming anyway.”

He half-snorted at that. “In truth, ‘twas myworry. Whilst such a scene would have made my legend even morefearsome in gossip, ‘twas not a wanted goal.”

She put her free hand on top of his. “Idon’t like being the center of attention anyway. Catriona wasraised to want all this; I was not.”

“Fair enough.”

She hoped her confession mitigated hisguilt. She hadn’t lied. A frilly wedding had never been on herbucket list. Hell, anywedding had never been on it. She wasgrateful things worked out as they had though. Now that she wasmarried to the giant of a warlord, she couldn’t imagine her lifewithout him.

The reception began as soon as the weddingended. Villagers packed into the great hall and overflowed into thecourtyard. As Moira had insisted, Veronica was formally introducedto the enormous crowd who in turn sent up a round of cheers. Shesmiled and curtsied, as her sister-in-law had taught her to do.Nervous from all the attention, she was grateful when Catriona andVictor became the event’s new focus.

The celebration carried on for hours and wasa lot more fun than Veronica had thought it would be. The food wasexcellent and bountiful and the wine and mead flowed freely. Thebagpipes made the mood even more festive. Finn taught her to dancelike a Highlander, which she got down pretty patently, but onlyafter several attempts. She laughed at her various faux pasthroughout the lessons, which brought smiles to Lachlan’s face.

She liked it when he smiled. It was a rareoccurrence on the menu known as Laird Gunn, but she was determinedto make it a regular entrée. He had a beguiling smile, verymasculine and genuine.

I’m falling in love with him.

The impact of that mental admission hit herlike a punch to the gut. She accidentally tripped over her ownfeet, laughing as Finn caught her before she fell. “Dinna hurtyourself, milady,” he teased. “Lachlan will put me on bedpan dutydo you fall.”

“Oh gross,” Veronica said, grinning. “I’lltry to stay upright on my feet then.”

She next danced with an elderly man wholived in the village proper. He taught her a few new moves, whichshe enthusiastically learned, grinning at him as they continued foranother two songs. Women from the village clapped and laughed, enjoying the spectacle they made. Veronica couldn’t blame them fortheir amusement. The man was old, but he definitely hadstamina.

Eventually and thankfully, she got theopportunity to dance with the groom. She knew it was her brother’sspecial day, but she couldn’t keep herself from cross-examininghim. What happened at the Campbells? Did he actually believe hecould create a vaccine? Was a cure possible? And so on.
