“Yo, we got a problem in here?” Brooklyn came into the kitchen with his gun already out. I didn’t know if I should’ve been happy that he made it before things got ugly or worried that this nigga had a silencer on his gun with the beam pointed right at Teddy’s forehead. Either way, I eased to the side of him.

“No problem. I was just leaving.”

“Make this yo’ last time coming over here or next time you’ll be leaving differently. Ain’t no more passes. The only reason I ain’t putting a hot one in yo’ ass right now, is ‘cause my shawty pretty ass over here looking at me like she’s scared, and I don’t want to traumatize her any more. Next time, I ain’t gon’ give a fuck what she thinks or how much love she still has for you. When I get a text saying issa problem, then I'm only coming to solve shit and you’on wanna see how I solve my problems. I’on fight.”

“You think they stop making guns when they made yours?” Teddy asked while trying to ease away.

“Pull yours out then. Let’s see who gone get shot in the head first.” Within seconds, a second beam appeared on Teddy’s throat.

“What the fuck!” I let out then turned around to see Zoo walking closer then stopped at Brooklyn’s left side. These niggas were certified crazy.

“You got it, bruh. I’m out. Be safe,” Teddy looked over his shoulder and told me as he slipped to the door. Probably more scared than his ass was showing.

Brooklyn’s beam followed Teddy all the way out the house. Once he got to the porch, he yelled to Teddy, “She said she feel safa’ ova here.”

“That’s where the shootas be,” Zoo finished. They started laughing, meanwhile I wanted to lock all three of them out of my house at this point. They were all loose cannons.

“I’m out cuz, let me know if you need me again.”

“I ain’t need you that time. You were just on the phone when she texted me, and I told you what she said. You asked for the address and shit, here we are. I appreciate that though. I wasn’t worried about shit.”

“You know crackheads got hella strength. You were definitely gone need me.”

“Umm, can I close my door now?” I asked because they were standing outside calmly having a full-blown conversation like they weren’t just about to kill someone.

“My bad,” Zoo told me while hustling off the porch. “I’m finna go make sure Ezell ain’t circling the block. I’m still trying to find that crime to commit so I hope he on his way back. Get some of this softness out of me from earlier.”

“Aight.” Brooklyn watched until Zoo got off my street before he came back inside. “Are you ok?”

I was nervously sitting at the table, replaying everything that had just happened.

“Yea, I’ll be fine. The food is ready now. You still hungry?”

“Of course. Even if I wasn’t, you cooked so I’m eating.”

While I fixed our plates, he sat at the table watching my every move. We quietly sat and ate like we were starving before we moved into the living room. After Teddy popped up, I felt like I was trying to keep Brooklyn over as long as I could.

“You know you don’t have to stay up if you are tired. I’ll stay here if you want me to. I doubt if he’s coming back but if it makes you feel safe, I’ll sleep on the couch.”

“Will you?”

“Absolutely. Go get some rest. Just bring me a pillow and a blanket. I have a bag outside in the car. Just let me shower, and I’ll be out of your way.”

“That’s fine. It’s towels in the hall closet, and the bathroom is the first door on the right. My room is upstairs first door on the left. It's a guest room across the hall in case the couch gets uncomfortable.”

My heart was racing, and I didn’t even know what was going through my head right now but all I did know is, I didn’t want to be alone. If he was willing to stay and give me that peace, then shit, get comfortable ‘cause I didn’t ever want him to leave as long as that fool was still walking around.

I woke up in the middle of the night thirsty, so I walked downstairs to get something to drink. Remembering Brooklyn was on the couch, I peeked into the living room to make sure he looked comfortable. What I didn’t expect was his fine, tall ass to be stretched out on my couch making it look like it belonged in Barbie’s Dreamhouse. He looked uncomfortable as hell.

Once I grabbed a bottle of water, I walked back to the living room to wake him. He didn’t have a shirt on and that alone had me stuck for a second before I gently tapped him.

“Brooklyn,” I whispered.

Squirming, his eyes opened. “Bronx, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing, come get in the bed so you can get some sleep.”

“Wit’chu’?”
