“I’ve been dealing with these games, and you’ve been in mommy mode, so we really haven’t had time to just sit down and have girl time lately. Teddy is being Teddy. After the last incident where he came to my house, I don’t think I’ll have to worry about him again.”

“What chu’ mean, incident? What did he do?”

“It’s nothing. Brooklyn and Zoo handled him, which is why I'm sure he’ll stay away from me.”

“So, they knew but you didn’t tell me? What type of shit is that, Bri?”

“The type where I just said you’ve been in mommy mode. I wasn’t trying to bother you with shit that was going on with me during that time. Why add more stress to you if I said he just popped up at my crib? Luckily, Brooklyn was already on his way over before anything else happened. You know I’ve never kept anything from you, but this wasn’t something that I even want to talk about again. It happened, they handled it, and it’s over. End of story, boo.”

The look she gave me was one of her still not being ok with my answer, but she’d accept it for now. Teddy was the last person I wanted to think of or talk about today, shit, and to be honest, tomorrow too. He was in the past, and I was moving right along without his ass.

“We will get together tomorrow, ok?”

“Absolutely. Now that the championship is over and we won that shit, we can officially have our girl time back. I’ve made Brooklyn my girl since y’all been booed up.”

“As long as you don’t make him yo’ bitch, we good.” Turning around, I laughed then frowned up at Zoo.

“Bruh, you are the king of being in someone else’s conversation,” I let out, making Mimi laugh out loud.

A laugh broke from Zoo’s chest. “Of course, Bri Bronx. Especially when it comes down to my cousin. He gets on my last nerves but I ain’t ‘bout to let him be nobody’s bitch.”

“If you weren’t listening so hard, you’ll know that I was saying that he replaced Naomi and PJ since they are always boo’ed up with you and Sin. He’s became my good girlfriend, or boy for a friend. Whatever you want to call it.”

“What y’all over here talkin’ ‘bout?” Brooklyn walked up on us with who I’m assuming is his mom holding onto his arm tightly. She was so beautiful but looked so fragile. Knowing her story, or some of it, I wanted to hug her.

“You!” Zoo spoke up first. “Ya girl over here saying she made you hear do boy.”

“She did not say that, Brooklyn,” Mimi corrected. “PJ come and get Zoo. He’s over here starting stuff.”

“Baby that ain’t nothing new. Zeus has been causing hell since he came into this world, I love him though. Just like he’s my own son,” Mrs. Smith told us.

“I love you, too. Just like you are my own auntie.”

“Zeus, shut up. You just runs out.”

“Auntie, why you gotta do me like that?”

Instead of replying, she fanned him off. “Introduce me to these pretty women, Brooke. I’m tired of standing here.”

“Pen!” Zoo yelled out. “Come over here. My auntie wanna meet someone pretty.”

Mimi and I hit his ass at the same time.

“Ay, what I do?”

“Ma, this is my girlfriend, Bronx.”

If I knew how to make that Scooby Doogrrrsound when he’s highly confused, I would have right now.

“Girlfriend? When did my baby get a girlfriend? I was just tucking you in bed and changing wet sheets and now you have a beautiful girlfriend.”

Everyone laughed but me. I just looked at Brooklyn and gave him a half-smile.

“Ma don’t start acting like yo’ nephew. Bronx don’t want to hear all of that.”

“You never answered me. When did this happen?” She pointed between Brooklyn and me.

“We started dating the day he rescued me from my ex.” I was trying to get her off Brooklyn’s back, so I said the first thing I could think of.
