The moment he reached Kaia, he grabbed a handful of his sweater and dragged him closer.
Jana rushed to Diesel’s side. “Babe, wait.”
“You’re an annoying little roach,” Diesel told Kaia, ignoring her. “I can’t fucking get rid of you. You’rethe reason Rebel refuses to forgive me.”
“I can’t tell Rebel what to do,” Kaia said. “If she won’t forgive you, it’s because of you, not me.”
“No one can tell that little shrew what to do,” Diesel spat, shoving Kaia away, smiling when he stumbled. “But she has a misguided allegiance to you, motherfucker. That’s making her turn against me.”
Jana inserted herself between Kaia and Diesel. Cradling his face between her hands, she brushed her lips over his. “Should I call Rebel?” she asked. “Will that make you feel better?”
“No, goddamn it!” Diesel yanked himself away. “That brat won’t come anyway.”
“If Itell her you’re in trouble—”
“She’ll tell you she hopes I die.” Scrubbing a hand over his face, he kicked a stool. Thankfully, his back was to Kaia. Otherwise, he might’ve kicked him. “She couldn’t even wish me a happy birthday properly and gave you the present to give to me.”
“I-I can give it back to her, so she’ll give it to you.”
“She’ll burn it before she does that,” Diesel snarled.
“It’s all performative,” Fia called. “Tommi, my little sister, is quite theatrical. She likes the attention. But when her back’s against the wall, she folds every time.”
“I agree,” Heidi crowed. “That little cunt thinks she can handle anyone and anything. She thinks you belong to her, Diesel. Even if you did want her, she couldn’t handle your big cock.”
“Shut the fuck up,” Potter warned.
Jana was happy someone stood up on Rebel’s behalf.
“She’s a kid.Prez’skid. Stop talking about her like she’s a grown fucking woman,” he said.
“Fuck you, Potter,” Heidi declared. “I gave my first blow job for fifty bucks on my thirteenth birthday.”
Jana had a lot in common with Heidi. Maybe she’d be nicer if Jana told her.
“Brother, come and sit.” Torrin waved at Diesel, indicating the chair he’d vacated to confront Kaia. “We can doanother line if it helps you to forget how Rebel betrayed all your kindness as her big brother.”
“Can I do a line?” Jana breathed, forgetting everything else at the prospect of a hit.
“Sorry, princess,” Torrin said, amused. “This is my special stash. Only way a bitch gets it is if she sucks me and Narci. He gives me a discount when he knows it’s for a special occasion.”
For a hit, Jana would suck off everyone in the room. She’d done it by force several times before. She licked her lips. “One hit, Diesel.”
“I don’t have any fucking cash with me, Jana.”
She couldn’t think beyond the cocaine, so she wasn’t sure what Diesel meant.
“If I spot you for Jana’s coke, will you keep quiet if I fuck Fia?” Kaia asked.
A flash of jealousy went through Jana at the idea of Kaia and Fia, who was an awful bitch. Kaia deserved a girl like…like Rebel, so Jana wasn’t even sure why she was so upset.Andifshedidn’t like knowing Kaia would fuck Fia, she couldn’t imagine how Rebel would feel if she ever found out.
“I don’t want you helping me with a motherfucking thing, Kaia,” Diesel spat. “I want you to fucking die. I want you out of Rebel’s life. You aren’t good enough for her and never will be.”
“So, you keep saying,” Kaia replied. “In your mind, no one will ever be good enough for her,” he scoffed and finally looked at Jana. “Whydon’t you be nice for once in your fucking life, Diesel, and let Jana go? That way, when Rebel’s old enough, you can do what you’ve wanted all along. Marry her yourself and finally have some fucking peace.”
Diesel’s punch didn’t surprise Jana, even if Kaia deserved it.
Instead of retaliating, Kaia clutched his jaw, turned, and staggered away, not once looking back as he exited the building. Fia rushed behind him.
