I laughed at the wording as he stood. Shotgun hesitated and then reached down to haul me to my feet. His mouth touchedmine, and my breath hitched. Shotgun claimed my mouth like a thirsty man who’d just been given an oasis.

My arms wrapped around his waist, and I pulled his tee out to slide my fingers over warm skin. He tasted of mint and coffee, and I wanted more. He slanted his head to go deeper. My hand slid down and cupped his ass. Jesus, it was as firm as I’d imagined.

Shotgun’s hand slid around my neck and held me in place as he ravaged my mouth. Desperately, I pressed closer, and his cock dug into my stomach.

“Do you mind!” a woman exclaimed, and I nearly jumped out of my skin in shock. I tried pulling away, but Shotgun wrapped an arm tightly around my waist.

“No, I fuckin’ don’t,” he retorted. “Nosy biddy.”

The older lady gasped and gazed at us in disgust. “Children play within this area.”

“Lady, if kids are playing in this park right now, you’d best call the school officers, as they’re clearly skipping school,” he snapped.

She growled and then walked on. Shotgun snickered and ducked his forehead to mine.

I smiled.

“Tonight, got plans?”

“No,” I said.

“Rain and I will pick you up and take you out,” he said.

“You don’t have my address.”

“Text me it, it’s the easy answer.”

I laughed because it really was. That kiss had messed with my head. Smiling, I sent Shotgun a message, and his phone pinged.

“Be ready for half-past six. We’re going to make an evening of it,” Shotgun ordered.

I nodded, but if it had been anyone else, I’d have bucked against an order.

“See you soon.” Shotgun kissed me briefly, and then I watched his fine ass walk away. Yup. Thatch had nothing on him!

Chapter Five.

Rain

Iwas nervous as Shotgun drove to Allegra’s address. As it stood, Allegra had spent significantly more time with him than with me. Clearly, she was attracted to Shotgun, but what about me? It was also obvious that he liked Allegra a lot. Shotgun had explained everything to me this evening as we got ready to go out. I was grateful I was renting a hotel room until I found a house. Because if I’d stayed at one of my sisters’, it would have been a damn nightmare. This way, I had the freedom to do as I wished.

It was hard, and not growing up together had caused loads of issues. Clio clung to everyone, while Thalia wanted to be the big boss. Polly was confident, while Callie was unsure of her place. Even after two years, Callie didn’t trust that we wouldn’t leave. And with Callie’s career taking off, there was strife between her and the others. Then there was me. The only one without a doppelgänger—and the youngest.

I was used to living alone and not having to answer to anyone, and now there were four demanding females to handle. My adoptive parents believed that was wonderful—me, not so much.

Shotgun turned into a street, and I glanced up. Oh, Allegra didn’t live far from the hotel. Shotgun parked outside a house, and we saw two cars in the driveway.

We began to exit the car when Allegra hustled out the door and raced down the path.

“Quick! Drive!” she gasped as she climbed into the rear.

“Are you okay?” Shotgun asked, amused as I got back in. He slid in beside me, and Allegra shook his seat.

“No! Go!” she cried as a handsome, built man exited the house and stalked towards us. “Shotgun!” Allegra almost wailed.

He reached the car.

Allegra sank into the shadows. “I warned you,” she said direly.
