It would be a softer surface just in case he fainted.

“Okay.” Dorian was doing his best to project calm, but he was slowly letting out a deep breath as he stood straighter. “That’s a good plan.”

The fact that he wasn’t huffing and giving me pushback for something said how distracted he was. “Great.”

“Yes. I’m going to see my mate shift and it’s great.” That had him blinking again, probably realizing how odd that sentence was, but I picked him up to distract him. “Hey.”

Chuckling, I flashed him a grin I knew would heat him up. “Don’t act shocked. You’ve been imagining me fucking you up against a wall since the first time you saw me.”

Okay, maybe not the first few seconds but he’d blushed and had gotten all wide-eyed, so he’d been thinking about something fun.

“That’s. I wouldn’t have. You.” He stopped stuttering out a response as I set him on the bed, but his reaction was adorable.

“Naughty little slut.” Kissing his cheek, I shook my head and tossed my own towel on the bed. “That’s why you looked so distracted.”

He was a sexy purple color as I grabbed his pajamas off the end of the bed and started getting him dressed. Since he was still so distracted, I kept teasing him as I slipped his shirt over his head. “Were you imagining being bent over the counter? Kneeling behind the counter and worshiping my knot? If you’ve got exhibitionist fantasies, we’ll have to satisfy that another way, Wölfchen.”

That had his brain coming back online as he blinked at me like an owl. “I did nothing of the sort. You were huge and glaring at me. I was…I was shocked and worried about Emeric.”

“That might’ve been part of it, but don’t forget, I could smell how turned on I made you, my sexy mate.” And the purple color was back. That was fun. “You were definitely imagining naughty things.”

Very naughty judging by his expression.

“I…” Barely shaking his head, he didn’t seem to notice my putting on his pants until I had him lean back on the bed. “I’m not a child.”

“Nope, but this is still fun because I like taking care of you.” That shut him up and had him frowning at me like I’d given him something new to think about.

Probably a scene from a dirty book, knowing my naughty boy.

“You said you’ll still be you when you shift and I know that because of Emeric.” Dorian seemed to decide that switching topics was a safer plan. “Is there anything I need to know?”

Not to panic?

“Not that I can think of?” I’d never changed in front of someone who’d never seen it before, though. Hmm. “I think I need to tell you that I’ve never changed in front of someone as their first time before.”

Okay.

His mouth dropped open.

That’d been a good call.

“Never?” Before I could respond, he kept going. “I’m going to be your first?”

“I know what to do. It’s instinct and magic, not rocket science.” Why was that so surprising? “I’ve been waiting for a lot of things for my mate.”

I’d known he was out there somewhere, so why would I go shifting for random humans?

“I guess…I mean, I know you’ve had a life before me.” Blinking slowly, he shrugged. “I wouldn’t have gotten upset at something like that. You’re a grown man with a past. You just happen not to be human, so there’s another side to your life that’s very important.”

“That other side is for my mate.” Duh. “I wouldn’t do something like that just willy-nilly.”

The expression made him smile but he nodded and sat up looking serious and adorable. “You’re right. I’m sorry for being surprised. I’ve just been telling myself that it’s a perfectly normal part of life and I wasn’t thinking.”

“Thank you.” Like I’d shift around any random date. Leaning forward, I kissed his cheek before stepping back. “You’re my mate.”

His smile peeked out again. “And you were waiting for me.”

“Because you’re special.” He’d figure that out eventually. “Ready?”
