Sage slammed the door shut and ran for the window, hiding behind the couch cushions, peeking out at the wolf in her driveway.

It was Canyon Motherfucking Wheeling.

He was beautiful, and she hated him.

He loped around the car, then headed into the trees, a gorgeous black wolf with silver sprays around his neck and face. She stared after him, her heart in her throat, her eyes on hisrenqua--an orange circle with three silver lines streaking away from it. She’d seen it in pictures, but never in the fur before.

But what was he doing here?!

She found a spot on the couch where she could observe and not be observed, and she tried to figure it out. She sank into the cushions to watch.

Nothing happened for a long time. Her eyes closed and her body relaxed, and she rested for a while, but then another vehicle arrived. She strained to see because it was almost dark. She knew the make and model of Canyon’s truck, and it was a match, which meant Canyon’s brother Timber had arrived.

Timber parked in the trees where Sage could barely see him. She grabbed some binoculars off a shelf inset in the wall to watch. The driver got out. He was tall, dark-haired, solidly-built, and lupine, and looked strong, fast, and scary. Definitely Timber Wheeling. He reached in the back of the truck and pulled something out and placed it on the ground. It drove around the truck then off into the woods. Sage fiddled with the binocs, trying to focus and figure out what the thing was… it had four wheels, but was bigger than a remote control car. Sage decided it was a mini robot.

A flash of light caught Sage’s eye and she trained the binocs back on Canyon’s truck.

Canyon had shifted into a man—and he was naked! He climbed into the back of his truck and was rummaging throughan equipment box with a flashlight, giving her enticing flashes of thick, muscular thigh and ass. He pulled a black bag with a hose attached out of the box and hung it on the truck rack, then he hopped down.

Sage sunk down further into the couch cushions and focused the binocs perfectly, taking in the scene as best she could through the tree branches, in the falling dark. He had a camping shower and was cleaning off in her yard! She could see a bit of muscular thigh here and taut buttock there. Too soon, he toweled off and dressed.

Sage rubbed her head absently, trying to rub away the strange feelings in her mind, and trying to figure out if she was about to be arrested. She thought about the WHIT-WHIT sitting in her car and Maria’s voice played through her mind on repeat, saying, ‘Doctor’s orders, doctor’s orders.’

Sage pressed her hands to her forehead, wishing she could just think straight and figure out what todo.

61—Not Sated

Canyon dried off, pulled on his pants, and fastened his belt, just as Timber and Wulf returned to him. They’d been checking the perimeter of the property.

“We’re alone. No other houses nearby, no people, no nothing,” Timber said.

Canyon grunted, then stuck his feet in his boots and knelt to tie them.

Wulf wheeled next to one of the truck tires and stopped, his screen dark and pointing toward the house.

Timber jerked a thumb at the house. “Abigail White was following her.”

No shit?

“After you left, a truck came up fast. Wulf rolled out into the middle of the road like a crossing guard. The truck sped up to run him over, but somehow, Wulf was the victor. There was a flash like lightning, and a crash, and then they were stopped short with a huge dent in the fender.”

Canyon gave Wulf an impressed look.Dammmnnn,he said inruhi.

Wulf’s screen flared.

“The passenger window opened but before I could see who was inside, the truck disappeared completely, which makes me think it was Abigail White. Wulf could still track the truck, but I couldn’t. It blasted out of there and Wulf followed. After we’d gone about a mile, Wulf pulled me off on a side road to a vehicle yard where your truck was. Someone towed it.”

Canyon growled deep in his throat.

“Chill, chill, it’s fine. I had Wulf inventory it on the drive over. Not one steak or wrench missing.” He motioned toward the house. “What about her? Is she your mate?”

Canyon stopped short, only then remembering that sexy female was a One True Mate.

Shit, she might be.

“Bro,” Timber whispered back, an amazed expression on his face.

She's hella sexy,Canyon said, stepping around Timber. He stared at the house, looking for any signs of Sage inside it.
