KyT falls silent, and I can sense him reliving each moment of our lovemaking. KYT
Casually, I walk beside Vedece as we leave our home, heading to join the others she has been worried about. Every bush or tree she touches along the way blooms outward, further seeking her touch. She has embraced her dryad heritage in a way I never imagined, becoming one with the fauna in a manner I have never experienced. The plants seem to communicate with her more singularly than they did with me. They not only relay their uses but also show her how to adapt them properly for each species.
Since we left the ship, I keep sensing a disturbance on Ethra that feels off, but I cannot quite pinpoint it. Vedece looks up at me with a question in her eyes, and I shake my head because I have no answer to give her, but it feels like we are being watched.
The walls of the compound come into view, and I smile when I hear the many voices on the other side. Father must have been filling in for Ricky, since he is the one who opens the gate for us.
“Well, look at you, Vedece! I will say you are a sight to behold. Every female in the area is going to want that particular dress.”
“Thank you, Commander. I believe these flowers complement my natural coloring quite well.”
Before I can say a word, Vedece is suddenly surrounded by Briar, Kira, and Dawn as they all fawn over her new look.
Briar reaches out, gently touching one of the many leaves along Vedece’s arms. “My heavens, Vedece, I think you’re simply showing off at this point, and here I thought my mating marks were impressive.”
Kira laughs, “I think you are going to start a new trend with that outfit, girl.”
“I’m jealous of that dress and the fact that you can even wear it. I’m fighting off a sneeze standing all the way over here.”
“Dawn, sweetheart, now that I understand the plants available here, I know I can create something to help you fight those terrible allergies. It’s not fair that you’re forced back onto ANDI each evening just because breathing here becomes too difficult. I’m amazed you’ve been able to stay this long.”
“Vedece, I think it was the cold front since most of the greenery was either covered or died, and no longer releasing the little spores that wreak havoc with my system.”
“Girlfriend, I promise between KyT and me, we will find a way to help you with this.”
This entire time, I have been standing beside Father simply watching the females interact. “Where is BuK?”
“He went to get Briar a jacket. Apparently, she shivered, and as Kira would say, he freaked out.”
I cannot help but smirk, “Father, you act like you would not have done the same.”
