Ennio leaves, and I call none other than Storm.

Before the phone even starts ringing, I send him a text with Senu’s photo.

Storm answers a moment later.

"What the fuck is this? What kind of poor wreck did you just send me?" he snaps, his voice breaking. He clearly sees the state that the omega is in.

"I’m at Daniel Tanner’s house," I say. "I found seven cages with live omegas in his basement, all in terrible condition. Right now would be a very good time to get Jordan’s brother involved. Detective Arnold."

"Holy fuck! Are you serious?"

"Hundred percent."

"I knew it!" Storm says. "I had a feeling you were dealing with Tanner because of Salt."

"Yeah. I have to do this for him."

"He supposedly hates you."

"That doesn’t matter. I took away his chance at revenge. I want to give him back whatever I can."

"What do you mean you took away his chance at revenge? Ah, never mind, it’s not important right now. You can explain later."

"Can you contact Jordan and his brother? I don’t want to call the general police line. I’d rather have someone we trust handle this. Jordan’s always helped us."

"Jordan’s at the firm. Give me a second."

I hear his footsteps, fast, almost running.

A moment later, I hear muffled voices, maybe a secretary, and then Jordan’s voice, formal and controlled.

"I’m sorry, Storm, but I’m in a meeting with clients right now—"

"This is more important. Something happened. They’ll have to wait," Storm cuts in.

More footsteps, doors, and then I hear Storm relaying everything I told him, asking Jordan to contact his brother, Detective Arnold.

"Well, shit, this is crazy," Jordan mutters into the phone. "All right. I’m calling him now."

Storm comes back on the line.

"Send us the address. Stay there and wait for the police."

"Okay."

Part of me wants to go back underground, but at the same time, the image of the omegas in those cages tears a hole straight through my chest. I have been locked in cages before. Not for that long, but still, I know what it feels like. I know what they are going through.

"What a monster," I mutter under my breath, staring at the unconscious Tanner. "You’re the one Salt should’ve killed first."

A moment later, Ennio comes down the stairs.

"I shut off the cameras. It’s clean," he says. He glances at Tanner and adds, "I’ll leave you with this mess, Eliano. You’ll manage. Good luck."

I step up to him quickly and place a hand on his shoulder.

"Thank you, Ennio."

He grimaces and pulls back. "Don’t thank me. Just remember, you owe me. And there will come a time when I’ll expect that debt to be paid."
