I made sure my SIG Sauer was secured in my holster and nodded.

“I do,” I replied. “He was the same way in New York.”

Every night, Jagger would go to one of his favorite strip clubs. It wouldn’t be different here in Vegas. I aimed to search the ones in the area until I found him. I grabbed my suit jacket off my desk and slipped it on.

“I need you to watch after Wren. I’m going alone.”

Benny huffed. “One of these days, you’re going to get yourself killed. You need someone with you.” I glared at him, and he lifted his hands defeatedly in the air. “Call me if you need backup.”

First, I was going to handle Jagger on my own. And then, once he was dealt with, I would go after my brother. I marched into the kitchen and grabbed my car keys off the counter.

Once in the garage, I hopped in my car and turned the ignition. The second my lights flipped on, a figure in black stood in their path. Wren stared at me with daggers in her eyes and her arms crossed over her chest. She looked like she was going to rob a bank, dressed in a black tank top and pants, with her dark hair pulled back in a low ponytail.

I got out of my car, and she stormed over to me. Her gaze moved to the gun in my holster and she huffed.

“What are you doing?”

Benny appeared in the doorway and cleared his throat. “I couldn’t stop her.”

I focused back on Wren. “I’m doing what needs to be done,” I told her.

Her brows lifted. “Are you going after Nikolai?”

There was no reason to lie to her, but I feared how she’d look at me if she knew the truth. “No. I’m going to find Jagger.”

Wren blinked a few times and then dropped her arms. “Okay. I’m going with you.”

She tried to march to the passenger’s side, but I stopped her and grabbed her arms.

“No, you’re not.”

Wren stared down at my hands holding her. “Yes, I am. You might want to let me go before I break your wrists.”

And I had no doubt she’d try it, too, but we both knew I was stronger than her.

I let her go and looked over at Benny who shrugged. “She has just as much reason to go after him as you. She’s in our world now; she might as well see it.”

Wren opened the passenger’s side door. “Exactly. I promise I can handle it.”

“We’ll see about that,” I said, glaring at her over the hood of my car.

We both got in and I drove us toward the city, the night sky illuminated by the lights.

“I knew you were up to something,” she confessed.

I peered over at her, my brows furrowed. “How?”

She blew out a sigh and met my gaze. “I don’t know; it was just a feeling.”

That made me smile.

“That’s how I felt the night you tried to sneak out.”

She leaned her head against the seat. “Guess it’s just our good intuitions.”

“Which is good to have,” I said, placing a hand on her thigh. “It means we’ll live longer.”

A few minutes later, we arrived at the bustling Sin City streets. “Where exactly are we going?” Wren asked.
