“You two look good together, though.” Stacey turned toward me. “His looks grow on you the more you’re around him, don’t they?” she asked.
I frowned at her. “I’m not sure what you mean. I’ve always liked the way he looks.”
Sean chuckled, his grip tightening on me in a quick hug. “We know you have. Don’t we, Jack?”
I hadn’t realized Jack had returned. His cheeks were flushed with color, and he rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah. Why are we talking about this?”
“Just some girl talk,” Stacey said. She made an aborted move to hug him but ended up placing a hand on his arm instead. “It was good to see you.” Then she headed over to the lead singer, her arms wrapping around him from behind.
Jack shifted closer to me, the glass I clutched in my hands pressed between our bodies. My knuckles rubbed against the buttons of his shirt.
“Do you want to stay here tonight, Hailey?” he asked.
I blinked up at him. “You mean…?”
“It can mean whatever you want it to mean.” He glanced around the bar. “I have others closing up tonight, so I don’t have to stick around down here. Want to come up to my apartment?”
“Am I invited, too?” Sean asked.
Jack hesitated, then nodded. “Don’t think I don’t know what you were doing. I’m not—” He breathed out. “We’ll talk about it.” He turned, picking up his guitar and the leather jacket he’d discarded between sets. There was a tension in his jaw that made me anxious.
“Is he mad at us?” I asked Sean as we followed Jack toward the back.
“Nah. He’s just all wound up by how you looked dancing.” Sean chuckled. “And you said you weren’t much of a dancer.”
I let out a surprised laugh, and Jack glanced behind him, his lips tilting up in a smile that helped my nerves ease as I followed him to his apartment.
Chapter 21
The Tenth Friday
Standing in the apartment living room with the two men I’d been fantasizing about all night was more awkward than I could have imagined.
Jack crossed to place his guitar where it had been set up last time. He’d already hung his jacket by the door. His forearms flexed under his rolled-up sleeves as he ran both hands through his hair before facing us. “I’ll need you to lead, Sean. I’ve never—” He broke off, looking away. “This is as new to me as it’ll be to Hailey.”
“You mean, you’ve never…” My eyes widened as I looked from Jack to Sean.
“Shared a girl?” Sean shook his head. “I’ve done it before with Derrick, but Jack tends to be a more traditional guy.”
“Oh.” I blinked, trying to gather my thoughts. The way they’d moved against me had felt like art, as if all our pieces slidperfectly together by design. I’d liked that feeling, but nerves danced in my stomach. “If Jack isn’t comfortable with it, then we can just hang out instead.”
“I didn’t say I wasn’t comfortable.” Jack crossed to me. He brushed my hair behind my ear, his hand shifting to cup the back of my head. When he pressed our foreheads together, my breathing slowed. “I want what you want tonight. Just tell us what you want.”
I stared into his eyes. “I want to feel like I did on the dance floor. I’ve never felt like that before.”
Sean moved up behind me, his hands finding my hips. “How were you feeling?”
I swallowed. “Present. Like, well, like I was fully in my body. Or maybe, like all that existed was my body? I don’t know how to explain it.”
“You’re explaining it just fine,” Jack said, brushing his nose against mine before pulling away. “You were able to let go and just feel.”
“It was more than that,” Sean said. “The way you were shaking, I think you were close to coming. I think we can get you there. Would you like us to try, honey? Can we do that for you?”
“I might not—”
Sean leaned over my shoulder and nipped the top of my neck near my jaw, sending a shudder through me. “None of that. We’re not expecting you to come. I think I speak for both of us when I say taking turns worshipping your body is something we’re desperate to do.”
“It’s all I’ve been able to think about tonight,” Jack admitted. “Hailey, you trust Sean and me, don’t you?”
