“My grandfather was from there,” Byron explains. “I’d like to go back and visit.”
Trevel’s eyes meet mine. And in just that one look, I’m able to read his thoughts. I have known him for many years, after all.
I could pay my parents a visit…
“I’d love to go to London!” Felix chirps. “Maybe we can go with you! Or meet you there.” He’s bouncing already, and it has me chuckling.
“Anything that gives you this much joy is worth exploring, sick boy.” I drop a kiss on his mouth.
“Awww, gag me,” Byron teases.
Felix shoots him a scolding grin.
“Actually… having you lot come along to London might be just the thing,” Trevel murmurs, contemplatively.
“It might not be for a while though,” Byron adds. “We’re probably gonna start looking for a place in the city soon.”
“Is Uncle Ivory buying it for you?” Luthor grins.
“I doubt it,” Byron rumbles. “He already gave me a quarter-million dollars for kicking Linetti’s ass.”
“Yea, too bad that doesn’t buy a cardboard box in New York City,” Ren scoffs.
“Right?”
“We could rent,” Trevel shrugs. “That way, we’re not tied down to anything.”
Byron cocks his head. “Eager to escape in the middle of the night, Violet?”
“You wish, sweet fury,” he rasps, stepping over to rub Byron’s shoulders and whisper in his ear, “You’re stuck with me.”
“Barf!” Felix heckles them, and Byron snorts.
I’m grinning while my phone pings, and I pull it out to find a text from Sven. I gulp.
After my fight with Felix on our wedding night, I decided to have Sven check up on Cameron Kline again, just to see how he’s doing. I felt bad for reacting the way I did with Felix. He clearly has perfectly platonic loving relationships with his friends. I don’t see why he couldn’t feel the same for Cam.
Opening the text, I read the message.
“My love,” I rumble to Felix, who looks up. “So, Sven says that Cameron seems to be doing about the same…”
Felix nods, a bit solemnly, but still appreciative of the update.
“Tell Sven I said hi!” Trevel preens.
“Is that your best friend from when you were a kid?” Luthor asks.
“Yea,” Felix sighs. “Actually, I guess he lives out your way. He’s a sex worker in LA, sorta strung out… It’s sad, because he was always the kindest boy. Popular, everyone loved him. His fuck-head dad ruined him…” Felix’s gaze goes into far-off fury. But then he shakes it away. “He got what was coming to him though.”
Luthor grins uneasily.
“Do you… happen to have a picture of him?” Ren asks curiously.
“Actually, he sent a picture.” I hand the phone to Ren, who immediately gasps.
“No my God! I met him!”
We all stop and stare.
