“Bitch!” Will gasps, holding her at arm’s length. “Slay, you saucy thing. I haven’t seen you in forever!”

“I know, it’s been too long.” The girl pulls a purposeful pout that’s perfectly injected and flawlessly glossed.

I really like her look…

“Darling, this is my partner in crime, Elias,” Will introduces me. It’s so hard not to balk at the name, even after years of using this one. “El, this is my dear friend, Jessa. She went to NYU with me… for like a semester until she got caught boning one of the professors and got kicked out.”

My face is the picture of WTF, and he throws his head back in laughter.

“Okay, first of all, it was a semesterand a half,” Jessa defends, grinning wickedly. “Second of all, I left NYU of my own free will.”

“Because they made you?” He snickers, and she scowls. “Hey, sis, I don’t blame you. Professor Wynn was a snack.”

“His dick was big too,” she says casually, playing with her hair. “So it was worth it. Hi, peaches.” She turns her bright smile and vibrant blue eyes on me. “You’re yummy, what’s your deal?”

My brows knit.

“Are you a student too, or you just like slumming with the skanks of New York University?” She laughs, and I chuckle.

“No, no. Not a student.” I smirk at Will. “I’m this one’s chaperone.”

“God help me if that’s the case!” Will cackles.

“What are you guys up to now?” Jessa asks. “You wanna bring the food to my place?”

Will looks like he’s going to politely decline. But then she adds, “It’s right around the corner! We can do some shots, maybe a little blow… I have rooftop access.”

Will and I share a look that echoes the same sentiment…

You had me at blow.

Twenty minutes later, we’re on the rooftop patio of Jessa’s building enjoying our empanadas with a side of tequila and coke. The place is super nice, and my first thought is that this girl either has rich parents, or does OnlyFans.Or both.

As it turns out, I’m not that far off.

“So long story short, my dad has to go to Paris for a year on business and he’s bringing me with him,” Jessa says, overly focused on cutting up white lines on a small tray while she regales us with herlifestyle of a rich Manhattan socialitetale.

If I thought I was jealous before…

“Lucky slut,” Will scoffs, then jumps up abruptly. “Gotta pee. Save me some of that!”

I watch him scamper back inside, mumbling, “He’s going to check Grindr.”

Jessa uses a rolled-up bill to sniff a line, sucking some off her fingertip. “Are you two…?”

“Just friends.” I take the bill and the tray. “We fool around when we’re bored, which is pretty often, honestly,” I chuckle. She grins. “But no, we’re just casual. I don’t have time for anything other than work, anyway. It seems like this city gets more expensive every day…” Sniffing, I swallow the bitter taste, wiping my nose. “You’re lucky you don’t have to worry about paying for things.”

Jessa peeks toward the doorway where Will just went. “Between you and me, this isn’t all from my parents.” My head tilts. “The apartment, yes, but my dad kinda freaked when I left school. He said if I’m not in school, I had to get my own job and pay for my own stuff. I started an OnlyFans which got me decent money…”

“I knew it.” I grin.

“But then I sorta fell into this… side hustle,” she’s practically whispering all of a sudden. “A friend of mine did it before, so she put in a good word for me.”

“Listening…” I scoot in closer. Hyper-invested, partially from the drugs, but also themoney.

“There’s this mansion…” Jessa looks around again, being pretty sketch. It could be the coke, but it doesn’t seem like it. “On an island. I think it’s, like, past Montauk or something, since we usually get there from the Hamptons. Anyway, it’s super hush-hush.No oneknows about it. You have to sign an NDA before they’ll eventalkto you.”

My eyes feel extra wide. “So, what’s the job…?”
