We learned of your loss not long after it happened, and please accept our belated condolences.

However, it has come to our attention that you may have friends looking into our organization, and we would cordially ask that this stop before any more of our mutual acquaintances or friends go missing.

If this continues, we may be forced to take action.

Regards,

Dr. Phillips

Gray had been apoplectic but had held it together, barely, for her.

“They won’t get to her or any of us,” I tried to soothe him, and he stared at the door to the apartment before his eyes flicked to mine, and I caught my breath as I saw the rage inside him. “You have to rein it in,” I cautioned him. “She needs you.”

“Why would they let us know that they’re watching, if it isn’t to hurt her?” Raking his hands through his hair, he shook his head in refusal. “They’re going to do something.”

“And we’ll be ready.” I reached out and clasped his shoulder. “We’ll show Onyx, maybe even our dads. I think the more who know, the better.”

“No.”

“No?”

“Onyx . . . maybe. He’s already looking into something.” Gray’s eyes flicked to mine before he went back to studying the door.

“Like what?” I asked him as I stepped closer, even though there was no one there.

“He wasn’t big on details.”

“Gray . . .” I whistled as I looked down at my feet. “That can only be bad.”

“I know,” he admitted. “You need to stay here. Jett’s sure they’ve been watching, which means that the girls, they’re on their radars.Allthe girls.”

“You have no idea how fucking small it is,” I muttered.

“I could put you in Quinn’s apartment, but then, there’s only one bed.” His look was more relaxed. “Would you prefer that?”

I shook my head. “No.”

“You’ll adapt,” Gray said with a confidence that I didn’t feel.

The door opened, and Quinn hurried down the stairs, eager to be beside Gray, who immediately hooked her under his arm. “You okay?” he asked her.

“Yeah, I made it brief and to the point.” Quinn looked at me and gave me a small smile. “Please?”

With a sigh, I turned and walked back to the apartment and walked past Red, who moved aside at the last minute, which was funny because it wasn’t as if she could have stopped me.

This was going to suck so bad.

Chapter 2: Mia

He was huge. There was no other word for it. He washuge. Not beefy like a steroid champ, but just tall, broad, wide, and his thighs could quite easily have been my waist size. I was familiar with his size; the strain from having my legs wrapped around him, that was a different thing. Then, I had been quite happily enjoying the stretch of my lower body, because he was huge.Everywhere.

But now, in my apartment, eyeing the sofa like it was personally offending him, he was justsobig.

“I feel so bad for Quinn,” I said to him as I watched him turn and look at my TV. A grunt was my answer, and I watched him survey the rest of the room before he went back down the hall to my room. Hurrying after him, I pulled on his hoodie as I grabbed him to stop him from entering. “This ismyroom, you get Ava’s . . . or the couch.”

Ash turned to look at me, and with one step, I was flat against the hall wall as he looked down at me. “How tall are you?” he asked as he ran his hand down my side and over the curve of my hip with easy familiarity. “Five-seven?”

“Five-eight.”
