I brush a stray curl from her face. "I want to take you out tonight."
"Where too?" she asks, smiling.
"Haven."
At that, she stiffens instantly, shoulders locking up. She pulls back a fraction, gaze dropping to the floor. "Haven? I... I don't know. That's where I worked. Everyone knows me there. What if?—"
I cup her chin, lifting until our eyes lock. "No one's going to bother you. I have a private room. We're going to get a drink at the bar, and then we'll go up to my room for the night."
She swallows, throat bobbing. "What about Ca?—"
I don't even let her finish saying the woman's name before I cut her off. "I'll make sure she leaves you alone." My lips brush her ear. "You trust me, don't you? To take care of you, like always?"
Her breath hitches, fingers unclenching. She nods, slow at first, then firmer. "Yes. I trust you."
Warmth spreads through my chest, the feeling more potent than ever when it comes from her. I press another kiss on her forehead, then a chaste one on her plush lips.
"Good girl. Get ready. Wear something easy to take off."
