We thought ahead after speaking to her the night before. They would put things together eventually. Figure out that when I left, she was gone. Our business card only had a post office box listed, so our address would take some digging to get.
We had cameras around the house and had already decided she would be well protected no matter what that meant for us. Lyon would shred anyone that came to our home, no question, but if there was an army, which I suspected Mark had in his employ, we might be screwed.
But we had a plan for that as well.
Because our priority wasn’t to take her for ourselves. That was a hope. The priority was to have her safe and far away from that asshole, even if that meant she wasn’t with us.
“Where are you taking me?” I was surprised it took her so long. Poor omega was frozen out of fear.
“To our home. The three of ours.”
She wrung her hands. “Can he find me there?”
“Not easily. But we have a plan.”
We arrived soon after. York and Lyon waited outside, and I stopped outside our cabin at a door that had no camera on the off chance they’d hacked our system.
“It’s okay, sweetheart.” Lyon surprised me by opening the door and reaching out his hand. “Trust me?”
“I do,” she replied quickly and took his hand. She was dressed in baggy sweatpants and paper-thin sandals. Lyon escorted her into the house, followed by York and me.
Inside, she hugged herself…our omega was shaking.
“Come here.” York opened his arms. She deflated but went to him and wrapped her arms around him, laying her head on his chest. I knew he had a bit of a complex about his weight sometimes, but in that moment, he was the teddy bear our omega needed. He rubbed her back and spoke into her hair. Whatever he was saying, she nodded in agreement.
A few minutes later, she turned to us. “Thank you for saving me. I…thank you.”
“Can you tell us a bit about what was happening? Not all of it. It’s been a trying day already, but we need to know what we’re up against.”
York guided her to a chair and sat beside her when she didn’t let go of his hand. “Mark is my husband. He never marked me. I never had a nest. I was a wife, even though he called me his omega.”
Lyon growled. I cleared my throat and gave him the stink eye.Not the time, buddy.
“He was nice for a while. A few years, actually. But then he got mean. I realized he used the marriage for my father’s connections and the status marrying me gave him. He began to hit me. Punch me. Punish me for violating his rules.” She splayed her hand over her abdomen, and I wondered if she hid bruises or pain there. “The rules always changed. I thought if I was obedient. If I was good…”
She explained more but left out the details.
“He’ll find us,” she said, barely above a whisper.
Lyon sat down. “He’ll find us, me and Cash and York. We were thinking that while we deal with Mark and the aftermath of getting you out of there, you might want to stay with Millie.”
We were torn on that point. We all wanted her with us. We’d waited all our lives for her and now, for her safety, we had to send her away.
“Are you sure? Have you talked to her?”
“We have,” York said. “I will be staying there with you. You’ll have your own space, but I’ll sleep in one of the spare rooms. We won’t risk your safety or protection.”
“I have to go now?” Isabella asked.
We all nodded. “As soon as possible,” I told her. “We stopped here to change vehicles and make sure you were okay with everything.”
She smiled and laughed a bit. “I have no idea if I’m okay with anything right now, but I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to having a life where I’m not scared all the time.”
“You’ll never be scared again if we have our way,” Lyon grumbled.
“Ready to go? I know Millie and her mates are waiting for you. York’s bags are packed. And we bought some things for you this morning and packed them as well.”
“Oh. Thank you. Is it weird that I want to stay here with all of you but I know it’s better if I go to Millie’s?”
