When he doesn’t immediately take a seat, I realize he’s waiting for me to agree to his statement.

“I make no promises,” I tell him. “But only if it’s cases like this.”

He looks like he wants to argue, but just shakes his head and drops into his seat.

“So that’s the frost giant?” Blaze asks with a teasing hint in his voice.

“Shit. I should’ve introduced you. I’m sorry. It’ll probably just be easier to do it all at once.” I gesture toward the front of the room. “Let’s get you settled while we wait for everyone else to arrive.”

CHAPTER SIX

Blaze

Isettle into the chair to the left of Steel while Titan takes the one on his right.

We’re set off to the side from the council table, and I’m guessing there are only enough seats for the members. Otherwise, why wouldn’t we sit there as well?

Shaking my head, I turn my attention back to Dalia, who’s speaking with her sisters.

She’s fucking gorgeous.

Never before have I wished so hard that my touch wouldn’t kill someone living before.

From the moment I laid eyes on her, all I could think about was taking her to bed.

I’m not sure if it’s because it’s been so long since I was with a woman, or if there’s something special about Dalia.

But it’s more than just wanting to have her naked beneath me. I just want to be near her. I want to smell her. I want to hold her.

All things I would embrace if it didn’t mean she’d end up dead.

At least I know my lovers are dealing with the same thing.

After following Jaeden to the town hall, he left the three of us alone on the first floor while he put out a call to the other council members—apparently by radio or sending stones.

Iero is unlike the rest of the world, which is mostly devoid of power and technology. They’re using magic to keep things running mostly how it did before the war, and I’m more than a little jealous.

I bet they even have hot water.

Damn, what I wouldn’t give to have a good, long, hot shower.

Sighing, I pull my mind away from that and to the conversation I shared with Steel and Titan.

They both feel the same pull to Dalia that I do, but none of us is sure why. Nothing like this has ever happened to any of us—or any of the otherreiters—before. It’s new ground, and neither Steel nor Titan are fans.

Me? I like it when things get shaken up from time to time.

The one upside of not having a visible head is that no one knows when I keep staring at Dalia.

“Will you stop it?” Steel hisses, his elbow digging into my side.

Well, make that anyone except the two men beside me.

“It’s not like any of them know,” I tell him with a roll of my eyes.

Titan’s eyes narrow. “But we know. We don’t know what the hell is going on. There could be magic at work here.”

I wave him off. “Yeah, okay, Titan. You keep believing that.”
