Kian.
I knew it would be sexy.
He’s Jordyn’s brother-in-law.
Shit.
Jordyn probably thinks I’m a whore.
She’s totally going to fire me.
“Wait, it was his birthday?” I ask when her comment earlier hits me.
My stomach tightens. Why didn’t he tell me? It’s not like it mattered. But I wish I could have at least told him happy birthday.
“Yes. We forced him to go out. I didn’t stay very long. Otherwise, I probably would have seen you. My sister-in-law, Quinn.” Jordyn points to the other woman in the photo on her phone. “She saw you guys dancing and told me about you.”
Oh. Okay. That’s good. She only saw us dancing. That’s harmless. And people dance at the club all the time without exchanging names. Not thatKianwas doing was any form of that. More like, he stood guard the entire time while I danced my heart out.
So the guy I thought was a tourist actually lives here and is related to my boss. Awesome. It’s a good thing I tend to keep to myself outside of work.
“Oh,” is all I manage to squeak out.
How close is Jordyn with her brother-in-law?
My heart races at the knowledge that he’s local.
But I left without leaving him my information.
I didn’t even say goodbye.
There’s no way in hell he will want to see me again.
“Ace, we’re ready,” the lead dancer calls from the side of the stage.
I nod, though all I can think about is whether I’ll still have a job tomorrow.
Jordyn reaches out and smiles kindly as she pats my shoulder again. “You’re panicking. I see it in your eyes. Please don’t. I’m not judging at all. I’m a girls’ girl. We look out for each other and do not judge. I know you have to get to work. Will you have a drink with me later tonight? We can chat more. Totally just two women having drinks, nothing work-related.”
Even though I’m hesitant, I nod. “Okay. Sure. Do you have an idea of a place?”
“Yeah. How about tonight at ten over at Velvet Sins? My sister-in-law works there. You’ll love her.”
When I nod again and force a smile, she leans in and gives me a quick hug. “Perfect. I’ll see you tonight.”
As she walks away, I consider calling after her to tell her never mind, but I don’t. And when the exit door closes behind her, I blow out a long breath.
Holy shit.
What did I just get myself into?
And more importantly, did Kian say anything to her about me?
Having a drink with her is probably not the best idea, but my curiosity about what she might have to say will win, and I know I’ll be walking into that bar later.
Wipingat my palms for the third time, I walk through the casino floor toward the bar where I’m meeting Jordyn Savage.
Unfortunately, work was grueling all day. Then I had to rush home because I wanted to take a shower, so I came to thismeeting feeling a bit fresher and put together than when I’m in my leotards and yoga pants at work.
