Then it stops.

I have never cleaned a room so fast in my life, and I’ve cleaned a lot of rooms since being turned into a zombie.

When the skirting board is spotless and the light fixture has been wiped, I toss the dirty rags in the garbage and wash my hands. Then I write a little note for Miles.

Hey man, I hope we can keep in touch. Your new roommate is about to inherit the best roomie in London. Bought you an extra roll of toilet paper for old time’s sake.

Since I’ve written the note on a sheet of bog roll, I imagine he’ll find it.

I’m grinning as I throw the box into Jen’s old hatchback and type out a message to her before I pull out from the curb.

Adam: warm up that gorgeous pussy for me, babe. I’m almost home

TWENTY NINE

Jen

I spot the tall, handsome dragon sitting at the bar as soon as we step through the door. Adam’s hand tightens on my waist, and I know he’s spotted Astor too.

He’s twice as attractive in person; his flame red hair highlighting the dark horns that curl up from his head and the strong nose and proud features that somehow fit.

He lifts his glass in greeting as we approach, giving us a sort of half-wave around his whiskey.

Adam’s hand never leaves the small of my back as we move through the crowded bar. Business really has picked up at theNight Shift since the owners banned the shifter pack who had been hanging around giving the place a bad reputation. Turns out the local vampire coven attracts a much more civilized crowd—who’d have thought?

When we get close, Astor stands, setting down his drink. “Jen, Adam. So nice to meet you. Jen, do you mind if I give you a kiss?”

I don’t need to check with Adam because the second Astor says this, my boyfriend’s hand strays to my ass, and I have to hold back my smirk imagining the look of excitement on his face.

I lean up, allowing Astor to bend and kiss my cheek in a gesture that’s perfectly polite, but also lingering and flirtatious at the same time. As he straightens, his voice is a low purr in my ear. “I am so glad you gave me a second chance.”

“She’s pretty generous with second chances.” Adam pulls out a stool for me and we sit.

I give him a little smile of appreciation. “In my experience, second chances are worth it.”

Astor chuckles. “Sounds like there’s a story there, and I would love to hear it. Can I get you both a drink?”

After an hour of easy conversation all our glasses are empty, and Adam’s hand slides over my thigh teasingly.

“Can I just say that this is already a hundred times better than our first attempt at doing this?” I tell Astor. “I’ve had a really good time.”

“I’m so glad. So have I. I’d be very happy to get another round, but if you prefer to take this some place more private…” He letsthe thought trail off into a question, pausing to look between me and Adam.

Between my thighs I’m wet and tingly and very much in danger of making a mess of the tight dress I wore with no underwear. Yeah, that might have been a mistake. Only I couldn’t resist when I told Adam and saw the look on his face.

But there’s also a slight flutter low in my belly, and I can’t tell if that is excitement or nerves. Perhaps it’s both. “I want to, but…”

“We stop when you say the word, Jen. If you feel at all uncomfortable, there’s no pressure to do anything.” I believe Astor when he says this in his low, serious tone.

“You’re sure you’re fine with Adam being there the whole time?”

Astor grins. “That’s part of the fun for me.”

I look around at Adam, finding his gaze fixed on me, mouth curved into a hungry grin. “You know what I think. This whole thing is so fucking hot. Good thing I don’t have to worry about hiding anything.”

Astor’s brow lifts, and I grin. “There are some things we should probably tell you about the whole zombie thing.”

“Then we’re doing this?” asks Adam.
