But instead of reacting, my heart started racing and my breath was breaking up. I couldn’t breathe.
It was hard not knowing if I was about to have an asthma or panic attack.
“Are you allergic to spinach?” asked one of them, laughing. The voices started to muffle just like the images.
“He’s suffocating, Jesus Christ.”
The laughter in the background started multiplying, but the only one not laughing was James. I recognized his dark eyes when he pushed Connell away despite his powerful stature.
“Get out of here,” he commanded angrily.
Then he turned to me. “Here. Go get changed.” He handed me some clothes without batting an eye.
Why did he do this? He always did this.
“I can’t go home now.” My breath was starting to slow down.
“Go to the locker room and get changed,” grumbled James.
“No, I—”
He came dangerously close to me again.
“Why not?” he demanded.
His powerful biceps flexed when he tried to pass me his clean T-shirt.
I stuck my hand out to grab the garment from his hands, but the male fragrance coming from his body after practice gave me butterflies. That increased when I noticed James staring at my lips.
“Because you guys will be in there.”
“If you’re scared of coming with us, you can always go afterward.” I heard him get close to my ear.
“We don’t take long, Blaze,” he whispered mischievously.
I licked my lips cracked lips involuntarily, and Jackson suddenly seemed to have a new interest in me.
His ice-cold eyes were all over me and stayed there until I decided that it was time to run.

“What were you telling me about Jasper?”
Jordan caught me off guard with that unusual question. Or maybe it wasn’t that unusual. After all, he was just a dad worried about his son. Maybe he wanted the opinion of a stranger who was in the dark about everything.
“Jasper is very smart,” I answered, remaining composed in my seat.
The man nodded, but then I remembered Jasper’s heartbreaking expression when James and I had started fighting on the couch.
He didn’t usually have spontaneous reactions, but in that situation he was so upset that he ran to his room.
“And he’s sensitive. Extremely,” I added.
I didn’t know Jordan, but from what little I had seen, I was surprised in a good way. In his place, my mom would’ve given me the third degree just to find out why James and I had slept together. However, he didn’t seem fazed in the least by that; in fact his only concern seemed to be Jasper’s well-being.
“Did James tell you something about it?” he asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
