Getting up from my chair, I pocketed my phone then pulled her body into mine, pressing a kiss into her lips.
“I have to go find, Kabria,” she simpered, pulling back.
“You bought tickets to this shit?”
She nodded. “I told you we were coming.”
“Diamond, you my girl.” I chuckled. “Youknowyou didn’t have to pay to come to this shit.”
“Well, I didn’t mind.” She smiled. “You have to make all of your money.”
I chuckled, pulling my phone out to text security to find her friend.
“I’m good when it comes to money, love. You know that, so here,” I pushed my phone back in my pocket, then pulled a stack out. “Don’t pay to come see me no more, Lord.”
“Makhai…”
“Come on, I had them go find Bria.”
“Bria?” she smiled as we walked out. “Since when did you givemybest friend a nickname?”
“She my best friend too.” I smiled. “I need to slide though, baby, my people gon’ take care of y’all.”
One of my guards was approaching with Kabria, so I gave her a quick hug then kissed my girl before I left so I could go get to work. Atlyn Grand Arena was packed wall to wall when I got on stage, so I was glad to actually have my girl and her friend with me. It would have driven me nuts not to be able to see my girl in this big ass crowd.
After performing my first three songs, I noticed a rowdy gang of niggas in the middle. I immediately peeped the burgundy flags they were throwing up. Seeing as though they wanted to be seen, I figured I’d give them a show. I lit another blunt then gave the deejay a nod to play the song he asked me did I want to perform while there. The nigga Slim and whoever the fuck his brother was, were still hiding in the shadows like some hoes, so I figured I’d have some fun and see if the niggas were really like that.
The beat dropped to one of my latest singles—Fuck Yo’ Dead Homies—that I’d made just for them, and the crowd went wild. I even went so far as to pull the chains I’d snatched off their dead homies and held them up as I rapped the song.
When I got about midway through, a fight broke out then shortly after that some niggas started to shoot. I wasn’t sure if it was them or someone else, but I quickly abandoned the mic and got the fuck out of there, hurrying to get to my girl. I grabbed her hand and made sure she had Kabria before I pulled her toward the exit.
Security was pulling up with a truck right when we got outside, so I pulled the door open and pointed, “Go straight to your crib.”
“Wait, no, what are you doing? You’re not coming?” she asked in a panicked voice. “They were shooting in there, Makhai.”
“I know, baby, but you gotta go.” I pushed her gently so she’d get in, but she resisted. “Baby.”
“I’m not leaving without you.”
“Yeah, you are, Lord.” I frowned. “Get in the car.”
“Makhai, what are you going to do?”
“It don’t matter, Diamond, get yo’ ass in the car.” I spat and pointed. I was a lil’ impatient with her ass at the moment because she never just listened. She always had questions and a fucking rebuttal.
“But—”
“Diamond, get your ass in here.” Kabria snapped. “You just said they were shooting in there! What the fuck are you going to do about it?!”
She glared at both of us before hopping her little ass up in the truck.
“What about my car?” she asked.
“Give me your keys.” I held my hand out and she placed them inside. “I’ll bring it to the crib.”
“Come home to me, Makhai,” she asserted as some tears slipped down her cheeks. “Don’t do anything to get yourself killed or I’m going to kill you.”
Chuckling, I leaned in and kissed her before closing the door. Just as they pulled off, the wraith I knew my brother was in was pulling up. I already knew he was about to be on some bullshit.
