She gave him a knowing look. “I may have been born at night, but it damn sure wasn’t last night.”
We all laughed because she loved that line when she was calling someone on their bullshit.
I grabbed the bags that my pops had left by the steps and carried them up to the room before I took a quick shower and changed. I didn’t really have plans to do shit, but if Diamond decided that she wanted to, I’d get dressed to go out later.
When I got back downstairs, we all sat down for dinner. The shit was smooth, and Diamond seemed happy. She was engaging well with my family. I was happy as fuck about that. I didn’t doubt that they’d get along or no shit, but it made me breathe a little easier because I meant the shit when I said she was gon’ be my first and only. If the shit ain’t work out, then I was just gon’ be a player for life like my uncle, while stalking Dime.
Me, my pops, and Proof were stuck with cleaning the kitchen when we were all done eating because my mama and Porsh claimed to be entertaining our guests. Shit was wild because they weremyguests, but we all knew better than to argue with Marge Matthews. A nigga wasn’t even trying to go that route.
“All done?” Diamond’s pretty ass smiled when I exited the kitchen. She looked comfortable as hell folded up on the couch.
I smirked, leaning down to kiss her. “Shit funny to you?”
“No, baby, I’m just asking.”
“Yeah, aight,” I pulled her up to take her place then tried bringing her down into my lap, but she wasn’t having it.
“We’re in your parents’ house, and they’re right there,” she whispered harshly but smiled. “Behave.”
“They know we be fuckin’.” I tried kissing her, but she dodged it.
“I hate you.”
“You tried to, but a nigga just too smooth, love.”
“I really did try to.” Her pretty ass face was all lit up as she smiled lovingly at me. I was just staring, trying to count them fuckin’ freckles, because I couldn’t help the shit. I could look at her ass all day every day.
“Aw, y’all are so freaking cute.” Porsh’s dramatic ass gushed. “I have to get a picture.”
“Chill, Lord.” I chuckled, holding up my hand because she’d really pulled her phone out.
“We have to document this. You have your first girlfriend.”
“What am I? Twelve, Lord? Relax.”
“Normal boys would have brought their first girlfriend home at twelve, but we know you’re special.”
“On Lord.” I agreed.
“Specialneeds,” she joked. “Gave my poor aunt a hard time your entire childhood.”
“Crazy as fuck, Lord.” I laughed. “I was the best child. They couldn’t have imagined having another one which is why I’m anonlychild. Ain’t that right, Mama?”
“That’s right, baby.”
I smirked at my cousin who rolled her eyes.
“You were hell on wheels, that’swhy auntie didn’t have any more children. She said it was Uncle James’ genes.”
“What?” my pops frowned.
“Right, lil’ bruh, what’s that supposed to mean?” Proof asked.
“Nothing,” my mother laughed, waving us all off. “Porcia, stop being messy.”
My mama wasn’t trying to give the baby up, so I was able to talk Diamond into going out for a little after we all chilled. Miller’s Pointe wasn’t as massive as C.F. or A.C., but they still had some shit to do around there. I just wanted to chill, listen to some music and vibe for a little, so I told her that we were gon’ go to this lil’ spot I knew out there. We were, of course, unable to sneak out without my cousin, so she slid with us.
When we got to Crooked Cross, it had an aight crowd. Shit wasn’t too packed, but it was far from empty too. I parked my truck up front, then rounded to the passenger’s side to help them both out of the car. They were already pretty lit when we entered, which caught me off guard a little, at least for Diamond. I had never seen her drink shit, and she didn’t smoke.
