“Right, but I can definitely save myself the heartbreak and pain,” I replied and we laughed.
He was a walking bad decision, but I had to admit he was irresistible. It was just something about the way he looked at me, the way he smiled and his brutal honesty that did something to me. It washardto deny him and not jump his damn bones, but I couldn’t deal with the things that I knew would come with dealing with him. I knew there would be women coming out of the wood works, danger and more, dealing with a man like Makhai, but damn did he make it all very tempting.
“Besides, I have Keona now, so that’s where my focus has to be.”
“Girl don’t even try that.” Kabria laughed after drinking some of her margarita. “There are plenty of women that date while raising children.”
“And I will too. Just with someone more… safe than Makhai.”
“If you say so.” She sang like she knew something I didn’t then turned her focus to her phone.
I just sat there eyeing her for a few seconds before I shook my head and brushed her words off. I just wanted to enjoy drinks and conversation that didn’t consist of anything that made me think too much. I needed a mental break, so I pushed all of the BS to the back of my mind and enjoyed my best friend’s company—as well as the bomb ass margaritas she made for us.
NINE
Loco.
“Atlyn, it’s been real!” I said then smiled at the crowd before dapping Breeze up then exiting the stage. I didn’t even realize I had as many songs as I did with his ass before doing shows with him. The shit was a workout for real, and I had to damn near run from the Honey hoe that danced for the nigga. I knew it was a reason I didn’t crack her when we shot the last video. She was a nuisance for real.
I went to the dressing room to get my shit together then I checked my phone. My mama had hit me up asking about Diamond and the baby like she had been doing since she went to A.C. I had to let her ass know I didn’t know any of the details she was asking for because Diamond wasn’t my bitch and her niece wasn’t my child.
I’d told myself that I was gon’ fall back from her. She was fine as shit and I was sure worth the chase, but I wasn’t fucking with that ungrateful shit or grouping me with any of the bitch ass niggas she was probably used to dealing with. Her little comments rubbed me fucking wrong, so I was good on her. I had hella hoes on my dick, so I wasn’t gon’ keep running behind her accepting her mothafuckin’ insults and shit.
After I texted my mama back and sent her Diamond’s number so she could worry her ass to death, I packed my shit up and dipped back to the hotel. I’d gotten the presidential suite and invited my cousin and her friends, as well as some of the Lords, to come down to the first show of Breeze’s tour because we were all gon’ pop out.
Porcia and her friends left before me so they could come back and get ready for the night, so they were already there with their music blasting and shit when I entered. I didn’t even go to her side and bother them. I just went to my room and showered.
Once I was out, I brushed my teeth then got ready. I was chillin’ so I threw on a black Givenchy tee that had the brand and design stitched in purple, some black shorts and the Field Purple Jordan 12’s. I clasped on both of my chains, bracelet, and watch, then sprayed on some Baccarat cologne.
After I was dressed, I stuffed bands of money into a small, black Louis Vuitton backpack. We were going to Kiss, the strip club, tonight and a nigga was planning to blow a bag. I heard my cousin and her people in the living room area, so I pocketed all of my shit, grabbed my leather Givenchy coat then left the room to see if they were ready.
“Hope y’all ready to go.”
“We are, come take a shot,” Porcia said as she poured their shots up.
“Where Kinnidi?” I saw Lyrah and Daija, but one was missing.
“You know Jabari is here,” she rolled her eyes. “She went with him. They’re going to meet us there.”
“Yeah?” I grabbed my shot glass and tossed it back. “Nigga ain’t told me he was coming.”
“I know.” Porcia grinned. “Him and Prynce came to surprise you.”
“Right, and you ruined it, Big Mouth.” Daija bumped her with her shoulder. “You talk too much when you’re drunk.”
My eyes zeroed in on my cousin. She had a big goofy smile on her face, looking just like her pops, so I knew then that she was lit.
“Don’t drink shit else.” I shook my head. “And bring yo’ ass from around that counter so I can see what the fuck you got on.”
Just from the top of the shit alone I knew the shit was inappropriate as fuck for her to be going out with me and my niggas.
Her shoulders slumped then she stood upright and rolled her eyes. “Makhai, don’t start.”
“Come around.” I repeated before sealing my blunt.
She sucked her teeth then stomped her spoiled ass around the counter so that I could see her. She was pulling at the sides of the little ass dress she was wearing trying to make it appear longer than what the fuck it actually was.
“See, it’s fine.”
