“It will be success, and we will be able to mend few bridges. I need to pull her into the light now.”

“What if she hasn’t appeared because she doesn’t care, or maybe she’s already dead? Shouldn’t our focus be on the Alliance and taking the power they have created? We end them and we can take it all,” I say.

“Net, I have bigger picture. This my life’s work. Not time to give up.

“Time to push, get done. When accomplish goal, we have all power. Our love will bring success we need.”

I school my features. This isn’t the first time she has mentioned she loves me. I don’t know if it’s a ploy to manipulate me or if she means it.

I can’t say I’m in love with her. The sex is good, she has kept me living a comfortable life, but I don’t know that I love her. She’s ruthless and if I let my guard down, that could be my life.

I’ve already gotten away from one controlling, manipulative boss. I refuse to become trapped again. As I remain silent, she reaches to squeeze me over my pants.

“We blow off steam in hotel,da?” she purrs.

“Aye, not a bad idea.”

Brooklyn

I walkthrough the McGowan estate shirtless with Cara and Liadan in my arms. My girls are so cute. It’s the long, full lashes for me.

I feel like I’m walking around with two gorgeous dolls in my arms. They already have me wrapped around their wee fingers. I didn’t know I could love anyone the way I love them.

“Daddy did good,” I coo to them. “She said yes. Now we have a wedding to plan.”

Liadan makes a little shriek that’s pure adorable. Cara has been nodding off, so she jumps at the sound of her sister’s excitement. I chuckle and kiss each of their cheeks.

“Shouldn’t ya be giving the lass a good shag to celebrate?”

I turn to find Granny McGowan looking back at me. I laugh and shrug my shoulders. I love this woman as if she were my own gran.

“They were fussing. I decided to take them for a walk to get them to knock out.”

“Ach, hand them over. Ye young ones need to learn to leave them be. They make noise as much as they shit. Ya don’t have to jump every time they whimper.”

The tiny woman comes over to me and reaches for Cara. Liadan begins to whimper on cue. I frown at her for trying to make me look bad.

“Go on, hand her over,” Granny McGowan says.

“I’ll carry her for ya.”

She puts her hand on her hip and glares back at me. “Do I look oul and banjaxed to ya? Hand me the babe, Cole O’Brien, before I lay boots to ya.”

“Yes, ma’am,” I chuckle.

“Grand, yer a smart lad. Now go put yer shirt on before my husband gets mauled. I’m remembering when he was yer age.”

I suppress my laugh and lean to kiss her on the cheek. I’ll come back for the girls after a shower and a few phone calls. It’s been a long day.

“Thanks.”

“Don’t even think about coming back for them this evening, lad. Ya should be working on their siblings.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

I shake my head and head for the guestroom DJ and I are sharing. She’s probably passed out. I can’t help smiling as I think of how happy my entire family is for us.

Connor even gave us time to have a quick family game. I haven’t had that much fun in years. Today is a day I’ll never forget.
