Jerrold Sommerstone pacedin his apartment while Beverly White from Ovax rested on his couch. “She doesn’t want me. How could she not? Who does she think she is?” he ranted.
“Jerr, you don’t need her. You’re free from the debt to your parents, and when Ovarix comes to market, we can do what we want.”
“That’s another problem. Adelaide went to my parents and complained. Today, she asks for a transfer. Thanks to that traitorous bitch, Harper asked my mother about the other trial. My mother told her she was mistaken, but she has the damn binder. And Adelaide has the other one with different dates.”
“You need to get back to the Center,” Beverly said.
“Not with the new owners around.”
“They don’t own it yet, do they?” Beverly sipped a glass of chardonnay.
“No, they don’t.” He calmed and sat beside her.

Josh warned,“You can’t go in there.”
“I’ll go where I want to. I’m a Sommerstone.” The room shook as something banged into the wall. The door flew open, and Jerrold Sommerstone pushed in like a raging bull. “What’s going on?”
Josh held Jerrold’s hand behind his back. Chad had his other elbow.
“Who let him in here?” Hunt roared.
“Who letyouin here?” Jerrold yelled back.
“Dr. Sommerstone, please come into the hall with us,” Kip said.
When Jerrold struggled, Kip nodded, and his personnel took the doctor down hard. “Doc, knock it off,” Kip yelled over Jerrold’s protests. “I can smell the alcohol. We are going to get out of here and let them finish.”
Chapter 12
The ambulance crew rolled Susie out of the room. Logan and Sam joined them, and Kevin followed, pushing the isolette. Harper stood with Hunt in what looked like a blood bath.
“You should be proud. You did incredible work.” Hunt smiled. “That woman is alive because of you.”
“Thank you. I’m Harper.” She changed gloves and began to clean the room. “I asked Mr. Brennan to call for an ambulance. He itched his ear and said something about a medic. Where did you come from?” She started to bag garbage.
“I’d normally say from my mom and dad, but after that…” He smiled. “I’m Hunter Montgomery, Chief of Medicine for the Chase Group. I was working in my office upstairs.”
“You have all those supplies upstairs?” Harper asked.
“Floors nine to seventeen are multi-specialty clinics, an urgent care center facility, a four-bed OR, recovery and inpatient areas. We’re waiting on the final licensing.” He didn’t tell her about the twenty-five-bed support unit designed for injured operators.
“Dr. Montgomery, I’m sorry about the tray,” Harper chewed her lip.
“Harper, did you pack and label that tray?” he asked.
“No.” She continued working.
“The person who packed that tray is responsible.” Hunt began helping clean up.
The door opened, and in walked Kip. “Am I interrupting?”
“No, I need to call the hospital and make sure Susie is being admitted to surgery. Until the dust settles, she’s my patient now.” Hunt headed out.
Kip cocked his head and opened his arms. Harper ran into his embrace, the shakes beginning. “You were amazing, sweetheart.”
“No, you were. I couldn’t believe you put on a pair of gloves and did that,” she said.
