A battalionof Chase personnel deployed all over New Orleans in the early morning hours. At Kieran’s call, they kicked in doors, simultaneously taking everyone on Adelaide’s list into custody. Kieran and Tobey supervised the processing at the building, assuring everyone was healthy and unharmed.

Pierre Rousselle provided no resistance. He turned to Julian and, in French, said he was wasting his time.

Julian smiled and replied, “No, Pierre, I’m about to take you down hard.”

The man seemed to startle at Julian’s ability to speak French.

Now seated in a room in the Chase building, Kieran and Julian tag-teamed him while Noah Paulsen and Mia interrogated Rosalind. Kyle and Chad interrogated the nurse’s aide, Marie, and every other individual was interrogated by a team of experienced operators.

Tobey and Bruce sat in the control room, able to switch between each room. Tobey zoomed in on Kyle and Chad. “She’s going to break soon—the minute they tell her she’s going down for Adelaide’s murder and the attempt on Harper.”

Bruce laughed. “Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. When they’re done with her, send Chad to get Brigitte from the cell where she’s being held. Rich and I will try to tell her Marie gave her up.”

“Roger, you know they won’t have a clue about Kip.” Tobey frowned.

“You never know.” Bruce headed out the door.

Tobey flipped to Rosalind’s interrogation.

“Whoever talks first gets the deal. The body count is rising. And I don’t know if you are aware, but killing a federal law enforcement officer is a death penalty offense,” Noah said.

“And who would that be?” She looked down at her fingernails.

“Kip Brennan. He holds credentials as a Homeland Security Special Investigator.” Mia smiled.

A twitch between her brows was visible.

Gotcha.“Tell us where he is,” Noah demanded.

Harper beggedto go to the building. She needed to see all the important girls in her life. After checking on Babette and Desirée, she went to visit Chantal. When she walked into her sister’s room, Chantal stood and pulled her into a tight bear hug. “You listen to me. He’s going to be found. You have to believe.”

“Channy, why couldn’t they let us be?” Harper cried.

“Because they gain their evil from others pain. Come on.” Chantal grabbed Harper’s hand. “Tuck, find Kyle. And if he’s busy, we need to talk to someone in charge.”

“Darlin’, what has a bee in your bonnet?” He smiled.

“Cut the shit, sweet Texas boy. Kyle told me what you did in the Air Force. I know everyone is in a tizzy. The evil people responsible for our birth are in a hole somewhere in this building.”

Tuck held up his hands and picked up the phone. “Elin, I need a security boss in medical.”

Jamie walked toward them with Raven holding on to his arm and an IV pole. This was her first walk since her latest surgery. “Chan, Harp.” Her eyes seemed to glow. “Mr. Sexy Bodyguard. His heart. Mr. Big Security Guy.” Raven collapsed into Jamie. He immediately lifted her up. “His stomach. Mud. Water. Bodies,” she murmured before passing out in his arms.

Jamie raced her into a treatment room as Tuck faced Chantal. “I’d like to go assist Jamie, and I’d like Harper to come with us, but, Chantal, you have to promise you won’t go off on your own.”

“Raven is our friend. Go,” Chantal said.

Jamie opened the IV wide, while Harper took Raven’s vital signs. Tuck joined them in the treatment room as Raven opened her eyes. Her breaths came fast as her hand swiped away Jamie’s attempt to put her on oxygen. She opened her palms. “Sage for sweet Joshua. His spirits are with him.” She reached for Harper’s hand. “Monsieur Kip. It’s dark, cold, muddy. You must hurry. Water is coming.”

Jaime gave Tuck a nod. He had Raven’s health under control.

Wes Crockett stepped from the elevator. “I got the page.”

“Raven—she had a vision,” Harper said. “She knew what was wrong with Josh. She said Kip is by bodies, mud and water.”

“We’re in swampland—a cemetery? I’ll take it up to the top.”
