“Well, you are safe with us,” Adina said.

She wanted to scream.Mr. Chase took responsibility for me. One captor for another?“Thank you. I guess I owe Mr. Chase a lot.”

She stared into the darkness and replayed the night with Wes. He recorded her story. He doesn’t think I’m telling the whole truth.

He’s right…

Then he… he made her feel special, loved? Was that love?

Letting herself drift, she could feel his lips, his tongue, his fingers and his cock. And the feeling he created. As the thought processed, she realized if he only wanted the information, he could have taken her home, but instead, he was soft and gentle. She swiped at a tear.

Was it a guilt fuck? He swore it wasn’t.

“Ellie, you’re okay and safe.” Josh reached across the seats.

Eleanor sniffed and nodded. “The day is catching up to me. And I’m hormonal…I know, TMI. I need a shower and to go to bed.”

Josh frowned. “What’s our ETA?” he asked the co-pilot.

“Mr. Stone, we are flying on the edge of theWashington D.C. Metropolitan Area Special Flight Rules Area. We just received word to maintain our pattern. There is a potential issue in our landing zone. And we are flying into a weather front.” The information played in all the headsets.

“Issue?” Josh asked.

“Illegal use of a laser. There was a serious accident onsite.”

“Is everyone alright?” Eleanor suddenly felt a rush of adrenaline.

“Patch me through to ground,” Josh said, tuning his radio to a different frequency.

Resa Knolls threw her hands up. “What were they thinking? They shined the lasers at their people. They were supposed to shine them at the helicopter.”

“Our people didn’t. Stupid high school kids from the area were drinking in the cabins again. I called the police. That will get rid of the monsters. But we can’t shine our lasers at the incoming helicopter. We will have to find another way,” Dixon said.

“They haven’t found the root cellar. Our last baby for a while is due to be picked up in the morning. Their payment cleared. Malachi and Dinah will be pleased. The money will buy a lot of supplies. After the baby is gone, you need to call Wes Crockett and make nice.”

Dixon turned to Resa, anger in his eyes. “How many times have you been told not to use their real names? They are now Ryder and Daisy.”

Resa took an alarmed step back. “I’m sorry, Dixon.”

“Good. As far as Wes Crockett goes, you are right, and I will. If that meeting does not appease him, I will find another way to deal with him.”

“You know what that company does; I warned you not to wake up their intuition.” She stood on her toes and kissed him. “I’ll feed the little one, and then we can spend the rest of the evening in peace.”

“Peace will come when we win the final battle.”
