Kip’s phone rang, and he stepped into the living room to take the call. When he returned, he said, “Boss, you are on speaker. I’m here with Wes and Troy.”
“I got a call from Preston Galloway,” Ian Chase said.
“Rat bastard,” Wes cursed.
“He said he was asked to participate in a clean-up of an interrogation. He’s worried,” Ian said.
“I assume it’s Ellie,” Kip confirmed.
“We need to help her,” Wes said.
“Help is in progress. Wes, choices are never easy. What is your relationship with Eleanor West?” Ian never minced words.
“I care about her.” He wasn’t ready to tell Ian how much he’d fallen for her. He still couldn’t admit the whole truth to himself.
Ian blew out a harsh breath. “The little we know about her ties her to our case. You need to listen to me—if your feelings interfere with your ability to lead this investigation, I’m pulling you.”
Wes nodded. “Yes, sir. I hear you.”
