The foursome approached, and Tara spotted them right away, stopping the forward motion of the group. “Hi, Mr. Crockett,” she cooed.

“Good afternoon, ladies. Did you enjoy your final bit of orientation?” he asked.

“Yes, sir,” Desi said.

“Hi, Ellie,” Addy said.

Eleanor smiled. “Hi. Addy and Marcia, when you get back from lunch, I’d appreciate it if you would check in with Mr. Traylor, the barn manager, and ask which horses need to be groomed. I know he could use some assistance.”

Addy’s face turned red. “Are you going to meet us there?”

Before she could answer, Wes’s phone beeped. He looked down with concern. “I’m sorry, ladies; we need to go.” He helped Eleanor from her seat.

After assisting her with putting on her jacket, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her deeply. Taking her hand, he walked her out into the sunshine.

Eleanor’s face was flushed. “Wes, is something wrong?”

“Yes, I needed to kiss you and take away your doubts that I’m interested in you.” He held up his phone and depressed a key. It beeped.

Eleanor swatted him. “I can’t believe you.”

“Come on, you can help me pick out a birthday present for Yvonne, my secretary.”
