Tuck nodded. “Darlin’, you’ve got a bit of a temp. I’m going to give you something to ease it and draw some blood. Okay?”
Eleanor moaned, “Mmm.”
Tuck walked to the corner of her room. “You need to shut down the Center,” Tuck whispered.
“What’s going on?” Wes’s eyes widened.
“Measles. Eleanor has the measles.” Tuck shook his head.
“Are you sure?”
“I’ll draw the pertinent tests, but she has the spike in temp, the conjunctivitis, and Koptik spots in her mouth. Her temp is going to rise some more. It can last four to seven days. And I’m worried…the bleed didn’t help, but we need to monitor her mental status. In adults it can progress to an encephalitis.”
“What do I do about the Center?”
“We will re-titer everyone. Perform contact tracing and provide prophylaxis as necessary. I’ll notify Pete, who will contact the Virginia Department of Health. We need to find out who exposed Ellie.” Tuck looked over at Eleanor. “I’ll be back with something for her fever.”
