Mike adjusted his position to be able to see all the others in the room. “The reason our people couldn’t find those medical records is because she was never there. She wasn’t found in a barn in Fredericksburg. She was found outside of Leesburg.” Mike handed him the pad where he jotted down the information he received on the call with Ian.

“Oh God.” Wes looked at his friends. “They found her in one of the cabins, our cabins.”

Kip took the pad from Wes. “According to this description, the cabin is one of those still standing. Our forensics unit is en route from DC.”

He opened his phone and began to text. “I hate to do this, but I don’t think we can wait. I know you want to hold on to Witch and her squad to run security for Ellie. I think six from her squad would be better suited running the detail required for the cabin. Witch can keep an eye on Ellie with just two from her squad. My thinking, their medic, Kodi, and whomever Witch wants.”

“That’s if she stays. Lance hasn’t changed his position on moving her,” Wes sighed.

Kieran frowned. “She’s not going anywhere, especially with Starr. When we intervened on her behalf with the FBI, the details were not clear. Ian signed paperwork taking Ellie into DHS custody. We didn’t say anything to you because she was willing to be here. Upon leaving DC, she was aware of the situation. Now…if she tries to leave because of Starr, or by her choice, I will prevent her. Sheisa material witness.”

Troy shook his head. “Well, Boss, I was thinking you found your warm cuddly gene when you told Josh Stone and Adina Ganz to stay and relax for a few days. You knew this scenario may pan out.”

“Alamo, I don’t think she’s involved in these disappearances. This is to protect her,” Kieran insisted.

“How come that doesn’t make me feel any better?” Wes sighed.
