Stick to cars, man.
Though it wasn’t that late when he entered his dark apartment, he headed straight to the bottle of pills on his nightstand. He longed to sleep, where he wouldn’t remember and wouldn’t feel the pain of losing Melanie and Cassey.
And hopefully, he’d forget, for a few hours anyway, how amazing it felt to hold and kiss Amy.

“Earth to Amy.”Robert stood over her desk, looking down at her.
“I’m sorry, what did you say?” Amy hadn’t slept well last night and consequently had trouble focusing.
“Can I take you to lunch again?”
Considering how attractive Robert was, lunch was probably not a good idea, but maybe it would provide the distraction she needed to forget the incredible kiss she’d shared with Ben.
“Um... sure. That sounds fun.”
Robert kept her entertained during lunch by telling her about Providence’s most eccentric and bizarre people. “Then there’s Debbie Wheeler. That woman is creative. She’s found more reasons to call the sheriff’s office than I knew existed.” Mimicking a woman’s high-pitched voice, he said, “My dog keeps barking at the basement door. I think there might be someone down there. It’s not safe for a single woman to liveallalone. I’d feel so much better if you’d come check it out for me.”
Amy laughed at his impression of Debbie.
“She can be so annoying. She acts like she’s doing this town a favor by spending money. Don’t get me wrong, she’s donated generously to a lot of causes, but she likes to make sure everyone knows she donated the most.”
Amy’s eyes drifted toward the repair shop, hoping to catch a glimpse of Ben when they left the diner. She couldn’t get that kiss out of her head. Nor could she forget how her body responded. She spotted booted feet and blue clad legs sticking out from under a car, but she didn’t know if it was Ben or one of the other mechanics.
Why was she always watching for him, anyway? Sure, he was attractive, but was she attracted to him?
Yes. That kiss proved it.
The man sitting beside her was equally attractive. If she didn’t see Robert every day, would she watch for him every chance she got? If Robert had been the one to kiss her, would she have responded the same way?
Stop it! This is your chance to turn your life around. You cannot get mixed up with the first guy to come along, or the second. No matter how attractive they are.
She had to find a way to get thoughts of Ben and that kiss out of her head.
