I swing open the door and tell him, “Wrap your arms around my neck tightly,” lifting him by his ass. “Now your legs.” Shit, he’s heavier than I thought, and getting to my room is going to be a task. His lips brush over every inch of my neck and shoulders, trailing heated chills over my skin, and making it really hard to focus on anything but what my dick craves. In his room, I undress him even as he tries to do the same to me.
“Bode, rest.” Climbing in next to him, I’m surrounded by limbs and immediately feel content knowing I’ll get a good night’s sleep with him by my side. I have a feeling this may be what some people call codependency. Bodie has always been my safe haven. He’s saved me from myself in so many ways, and now he’s making me fall head over heels in love with him. All while I deal with another issue I know I’ll eventually have to reveal.
Chapter Nine Part Two
Bodie
Iopened my eyes to see Bryce’s beautiful silhouette again this morning. The sun had barely risen , but he was awake and getting ready for the day. He said he had errands to run and was filling in the day shift for Kasey, who apparently got as drunk as I did last night. Thank goodness for rare days off from games and practice. The kiss goodbye left me wanting more, so I’m going to hang out at the bar for the afternoon, hoping to get more time with Bryce when he’s not busy.
It’s only two in the afternoon, but when I walk in, I find the bane of my existence, Drew, at the bar talking to Bryce. Though, as soon asmyman looks up and sees me, the air doesn’t seem as heavy as it did a moment ago.
“Hey, Bode. I didn’t know you were visiting.” He rounds the bar to offer a hug, which I extend into a brief make-out session until he breathily chuckles and says, “Oh, someone is staking their claim on me now, huh?”
“Get used to it.” I throw back his own words with a similar smirk.
“C’mon. You want a drink?”
“Water. Lots of Water.”
“I left you a bottle on the nightstand,” he says as he hands me another one.
“Yeah, I drank it, along with two more.” If it was anyone else, I’d be offended by his laughter.
Bryce hands me a menu to order something to fill my stomach, while I feel Drew’s glare burning a hole in the side of my face. After a few minutes, I finally turn to address him, as if I care. “Oh, hey, Drew. Didn’t see you there. You’re here awfully early.” I turn my gaze away before I’ve even finished my sentence. His ego is big enough—I don’t need to let him think I give a fuck that he’s here.
“Yeah, you too. It’s barely two o'clock, and you’re already stalking your friend.”
“He’s more than a friend, Drew.”
“Mhm. I saw.”
“Good. Then you should’ve said that.” Bryce’s expression makes me chuckle as he walks back to the end of the bar. “What time are you working until?”
His stiff brows make me want to change the subject. He didn’t hear Drew being a dick to me—or was it me being a dick to Drew? I don’t care either way; I just don’t want him to worry.
“I’m working a double. Kasey stayed a lot later than we did last night.”
My food arrives just as my stomach starts rumbling.
“And tonight was my normal shift.”
“Last night was a good night.”
“Oh, yeah? What did you guys do?” Drew butts in to yet another conversation.
“We went to Aura,” Bryce tells him, even though I planned on ignoring him just for fun.
“Oh, nice place. You should’ve called me, Bryce. I would’ve come to hang out.”
I look from Drew to Bryce and come to the conclusion that he’s as confused as I am about why Drew thinks he would want to invite him. Which leads me to believe Drew is only trying to make me jealous.
“Yeah, maybe next time,” Bryce tells him, and then waits on another person down the end of the bar.
“You’ve been coming here how long now?” I chew my grilled chicken between words. “You shouldn’t act so desperate. It’s not becoming of you.”
“I’m not concerned with how I look to you, Bodie.”
“Yeah, but I know Bryce. He’s never going to go out with you. Especially not now.”
