"Do you want to ruin the partnership we have because you don't know how to behave yourself?" Dragon asked, his gaze never leaving Enzo's.

Several of the men in the room turned to the two of them, as the tension rose in the atmosphere.

Enzo's stare was intense; then he nodded, releasing the tenseness in his muscles. "Fine. If you believe you can trust him, I'll take your word for it."

"Good," Dragon clipped the word off, then rose, leaving the room with his brother and cousin following.

"That could have gone better. You do have to work on your tact sometimes, cousin," Cenzo said, patting Enzo's shoulder.

Enzo smirked and took a sip of his drink. "I put something on his mind whether he wants to admit it or not. But we'll see if their friendly relationship will be a problem in the future. Once my father wins this war, Montgomery will have to make a decision too because their little operations will be shut down in America."

With that, Enzo smiled.

Chapter twenty-five

Nathan

NathanwaitedintheVIP room at Desires for Bailey to enter. He was excited and wanted to be the first to tell him that this was his last day working for the club, as he'd paid his debt to Vito. He couldn't wait to see his reaction, and he wanted to persuade the pretty thing to give him at least one date. When the door opened, he looked up at the beautiful blonde angel with blue eyes, plump lips, and a body blessed by the boy toy gods. Bailey smiled and sauntered over to him, and Nathan wondered how much of that was his performance just for the job or if any of that seduction was genuine.

"I knew you'd come back," Bailey said as he sat down on the sofa next to Nathan. He was wearing a leather harness, collar, black shorts, and boots. The whole outfit poked Nathan's cock, and it stirred to life, but he kept it in check.

"Of course I'd be back. I want you," Nathan said as he looked the man up and down with all of the lust he felt for Bailey. "Have you given any thought to our last conversation?"

"You look like you've been busy. Are you okay?" Bailey asked as he ran a finger down the sling cradling Nathan's injured arm. He looked at the bruises and healing cuts on Nathan's handsome face and wondered how many more injuries the man had that the slick outfit kept hidden. He didn't need to wonder what was happening. Not only did he hear gossip in the hallways, but he had Zindel as a source. The Castiello family and the Lords were at war with the Triad, and things had escalated recently. He knew that Demir was laid up somewhere safe on the mend and that Vito had increased Zindel's security, so much so that they couldn't hang out until all of it was over.

Nathan didn't say anything at first. He just watched Bailey, trying to read the man's expressions, and the edge of his lips curled up when he saw the concern in Bailey's eyes. "I'm good. This doesn't surprise you?" he asked, gesturing to his injured arm.

Bailey shook his head. "I know there's a war going on and that you were shot. When I first heard about it..." He paused and looked up at Nathan.

"Go on," Nathan implored because he wanted to know if Bailey cared.

Bailey sighed and leaned against the sofa. "A lot of things went through my mind."

"Like what?"

"When I leave this place, I can go back to a normal life. Even a better one than before because of the money I was able to save up. It's not a lot, but I'll be able to get a small apartment and survive until I get another job."

"That's what you were thinking about?" Nathan asked with an arched brow.

Bailey nodded. "Yes. Because if I choose that life, I'll be safe. But if I choose you, what will happen? Will you have enemies looking for revenge?"

"I kill my enemies because I don't need them looking for revenge," Nathan said.

Bailey blinked, then stared at him.

"What?" Nathan asked with a slight frown.

"I... I mean... nothing." Bailey shook his head.

"No, tell me. I want there to be honesty between us," Nathan said. "Lack of communication leads to misunderstandings."

"It's just that you said that so bluntly. I can tell you're ruthless."

"Ahhh," Nathan said, nodding, because he could see how his statement might have rattled the pretty cherub. "Not anything you need to worry about."

"Why not?"

"Because I'd never be ruthless to you."
