He moved his head back.Fierce blue eyes peered into hers. She tilted her chin slightly, an invitation.Tony responded by kissing her mouth.Giselle melted beneath his strong grip, body sagging as her lips worked against his.Her hands explored his broad shoulders and back, palms sliding against his toned, athletic frame. His hands returned an eager touch, drifting down her back and around her slim waist.
Through his uniform shorts, his erection grew between their sandwiched bodies. The thick hardness pressed against her softening crotch, and she moaned into the deepening kiss. Her mind spun in passion. With her head clouded by arousal, she momentarily forgot her injury.
Giselle placed her full weight on the broken ankle—violent pain exploded on her foot. She cried out and stumbled against the table.Tony grabbed her upper arms and prevented a fall.Breathing hard, they stared at each other and laughed.
She slapped her forehead.“Way to kill the moment.”Another bolt of pain zipped up her leg and she hissed, eyes squeezed shut.
“Ok, into the chair,” Tony said as he helped her sit.His face reddened as the erection persisted, his shorts pulled out in a tent.
Giselle grinned through her pain.“Sorry.Let’s call it a day and take cold showers.I’ll have to wrap my cast in plastic like the doctor said.”
“It’ll be somewhat of a chore for a while, but you’ll get used to it,” he commented. They exchanged phone numbers on their devices.“Call or text me for anything.”
“I will,” she said.“Drive home safe, and hope to see you soon.”
“Me too,” he replied, smiling. He glanced down to check his crotch.“Ok, it’s back asleep.I think I can appear in public now.”
Giselle laughed as Tony let himself out.
Chapter Eight
A Real Surprise Party
“Nigel, I broke my ankle! Are you seriously suggesting I did it on purpose just to get out of work?”
Fuming in her apartment, Giselle sat stiff on the couch, a white-knuckled grip holding the phone. She couldn’t believe her boss actually thought she would do such a thing. She called to ask for a couple days off before returning to the dealership. She had no problem hobbling around on crutches, but the initial pain after the break proved too much at the moment.
“My point is that you find any excuse to avoid responsibility,” Nigel said in her ear.“I’ll give you two days, but I’m still annotating this on—”
“A memorandum for record,” Giselle cut in.“You are disciplining me for an accident.Got it.”
“Don’t get sassy with me.Report back to work on Wednesday.”He hung up.
Giselle spiked the phone on the couch cushion.“Jerk face!”She hissed as a sting of pain sliced her foot. She had taken her prescription this morning, but pills could only do so much.
She rubbed her hands over her face and sighed. At least she had the “surprise” raid by her teammates to look forward to on this overcast Sunday. The autumn clouds had moved back into the city and threatened to dump rain in the afternoon.
Around twelve, the doorbell rang.Giselle put on her surprised face and opened the entry to find Coach Jess and the Rapids swarming the porch.Giggles, greetings, and hugs took place as the raucous group filed into the apartment. Each player had brought a food item to share for a yummy potluck.Coach Jess also handed over Giselle’s shiny, third-place trophy gifted from the league.
After the last person entered, she used the tip of a crutch to close the door, but a hand on the other side stopped it.Janice shouldered through the gap and stepped inside.
“Janice!”Giselle exclaimed in surprise.“Um, welcome.Did you come to crash the party?”
The Bolt waved a plastic tub of Rice Krispy treats.“I was invited, number nine.”
“The enemy caught wind of our plan and asked to join us,” Coach Jess explained.“Janice promised those treats, so of course I said yes.”Giselle laughed, then ushered the girl inside to join the others.
The gathering brought fun, laughter, and non-stop conversation.Voices droned from all corners of the living room and kitchen as everyone talked and ate. Each person took turns signing Giselle’s cast.Coach Jess asked Janice about the Bolts and their preparation against the Lancers in the finals.Everyone looked forward to the game on Saturday.Food, drinks, and desserts vanished into gratified bellies.
In the afternoon, the Rapids bid farewell.Giselle handed her car keys to Jess so she could bring the vehicle this evening.Another teammate would follow to give the coach a ride back. One by one, the guests shuffled out the door after another round of hugs and chitchat on the porch.
Leaning on her crutches, Giselle finally closed the door. She turned and nearly leapt out of her skin in fright.Janice lounged on the sofa, a small smile on her face.
“Geez, you scared the crap out of me,” Giselle stated, hobbling over to sit.“I thought everyone had left.”
Janice scooted close and placed a hand on Giselle’s thigh.“Do you want me to go?”
Giselle’s cheeks colored, and goosebumps rose on her arms.“Well…not really. But I planned to take a bath.”
