Zach bit his lip and with it a giggle, muttering, “You said it.”

“What! I’ve been busy!” The whine escaped me before I could stop it.

And then came another cough. Gosh. It was as if my body was against me or something.

Zach sighed and put his mug down, his face turning serious as he approached me.

“Okay. You’re clearly coming down with a cold and that room is far too cold to sleep in. So, maybe you should take your bed back.”

“What? So you get a cold too? That wouldn’t be very smart.”

He licked his lips, pushed them to one side, then the other before he said.

“Well…then…maybe we share. It’s a big enough bed.”

I shook my head. Maybe a little too fast because Zach’s disappointment was obvious.

“I couldn’t do that. You’re my guest. What kind of host shares the bed with the guest?”

Zach rolled his eyes.

“The kind who hasn’t fixed the heating yet and is trying to save himself from catching his death?” He raised one eyebrow so high it could have gotten lost in his hairline, but it had the desired effect because he did have a point. As much as I hated that.

“Fine. I guess. But I’ll fix it tomorrow.”

Zach smiled and patted my shoulder. “Sure you will.”

And with that he turned around, grabbed his coffee and took a sip. And all I could do was watch him, his back, his…perfectly round ass that was still perky despite the pajamas he wore, and I bit my lip.

Yeah. Because sharing a house with a hunk is not bad enough for my self-control, now I had to share a bed too? That would go down well. The last thing I needed was to wake up with a boner pressed against him.

I sighed.

Why did I even think of that?

Now, of course, my cock got hard. Fuck my fucking life.

“Are you okay?”

I shook my head and realized he was staring at me.

Hang on. How long have I been staring at his ass?

“Uhm—” I started to reply when there was a knock on the door and both of us turned to look at it.

Lookah launched himself at the door like it was the devil incarnate.

I approached and quieted Lookah, peeking through the eyehole, and the tension in my back loosening when I saw who was there. I opened the door.

“Hey, Duke,” I said and the young vet greeted me back with a full smile that got even bigger as soon as he saw Lookah.

The man dropped to his knee and gave my four-legged guy all the attention for a solid minute or two before he even deigned to look at us. But that was Duke for you. More at home with the animals than the humans in any given space.

“What brings you here?” I asked when he stood back up and I ushered him in.

“I thought I’d come in and check on your little monsters. Hope that’s okay,” he replied and I nodded.

“Want some coffee?” Zach asked him.
